Is this where you get all your facts from? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel Sure appears to be some form of 'occupation' to me.
Regulating travel and trade with the rest of the world, controlling their airspace and sea access is not occupation?
I wont go that far as I really do not try to take sides on that situation over there, however facts if I know them or think I know them to be different is all I respond on.
I understand you. But there is a Biblical Borders project, and that was supported by Sharon too. I cant tell with 100% accurecy, but it really sounded like that to me. Let me share with you article from Wiki : " Gush Emunim (Hebrew: גוש ××ž×•× ×™×‎, Block [of the] faithful) was an Israeli political movement. The movement sprang out of the conquests of the Six-Day War in 1967, though it was not formally established as an organization until 1974, in the wake of the Yom Kippur War. It encouraged Jewish settlement of the land they believe God allotted to the Jews in the book of Deuteronomy. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gush_Emunim and " Land of Israel in Jewish law According to Jewish law (halakha), some religious laws only apply to Jews living in the Land of Israel and some areas in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria (which are thought to be part of Biblical Israel). These include agricultural laws such as the Shmita (Sabbatical year); tithing laws such as the Maaser Rishon (Levite tithe), Maaser sheni, and Maaser ani (poor tithe); charitable practices during farming, such as pe'ah; and laws regarding taxation. One popular source lists 26 of the 613 mitzvot as contingent upon the Land of Israel.[4] " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eretz_Israel
Its too easy. Besides, this post was a joke to show how complicated is the situation in the area. Its not black and white. Like some *sigh* of you think, *Jews stole arab land, jews stole arab land!* Get out of the PR forum or open wikipedia once in a while (Not you ziya).
It is not a clear cut situation. I believe Israel has the right to exist. I also believe Palestine should get some form of a homeland. However I believe Hamas needs to disarm or go on an enlongated period of inactivity. Israel should also not have to give up the lands they got in the war unless they are given something in return. Afterall they were not the agressors and they had to put a lot of money and man power into defending themselves.
If Hamas disarms, would Israel disarm? Seems fair. How would Hamas defend Gaza from the daily bombings angel Israel gives it?
Why will Israel bomb if Gaza is disarmed? We dont bomb ramallah since its disarmed, neither any other west bank city yet we allow 1000s of palestinian police officers with weapons to protect inside order. Sounds fair to me
If hezbollah, iran, syria and Hamas disarmed, would Israel abolish its military? No So why should they disarm
Will israel destroy its nuclear weopons ? will israel leave Golan Heights ? it is not the way of discussions. You can not start discussions like that( with disarming Hamas or Hezbollah for example ). It is a wrong approach.
this is my understanding of the situation Please feel free to contradict and disagree if i am not correct but keep it civil and logical please. the international law does not allow the transfer of the land from civilian population. it also allows for the rightful owners of the land to return once the conflict is over. Regardless of who wins and who loses. so i think israel is well within international law if it annexed the palestanian land and allow the palestanian refugee to return to their land. they can declare this greater israel or whatever . this is ahmadinejad plan, a one state solution.it creates a problem that it will make israel majority palestanian [maybe within some years] the US plan is to give palestanian a peace of land called occupied territory ,so then israel does not have to accept this amount of palestanians. the israeli right wings have something similar to the first plan but they want to move "transfer" the palestanian population. this seems to be similar to the hamas plan but they want to move the israelis out. the good news is that there are a large group of moderate israeli and palestanians that support the two state solution. Unfortunately the extremists on both side want to derail the peace process and the majority are not capable to stand up to these extremists. the goal of international community must be aimed at strengthening of the moderates on both side politicly [not arming the enemy of our enemy bogart] for the last year i have been saying that there is going to be a plan out by the end of the year and i am more sure of that now than ever before. i hope extremists do not destroy it. this might be the last chance for a two state solution.
do you realize that UN means the countries of the world.[united nations] and when you say UN thinks israel=bad means that the majority of the nations in the world feel like that. or do you mean the UN building in NY thinks like that.
