A co-worker (he is around 70) just ask me this question. "I have a computer at home. There is two power outlet on the wall. Now my computer connect to the bottom one. If i unplug my computer and plug it on the top power outlet, will my computer be alright?" Common, computer is just another piece of electronic device. As long as you turn it off first, there will be no problem....and after i told him there will be no problem, he ask me again just to "make sure"... i am speechless
it's harder for old people to adapt to new tehnologyes. your grandson will maybe laugh at you for being affraid to teleport or something
Very funny. Technology is not for most older ppl but I recently noticed my mother using her computer everyday. She finally got over her scary feelings. She always would tell me the computers are of the devil. What?
i know, am a hardware engg, and i have faced enough of those! but then i feel they are better than the kids who delete the windows folder straight away!
good to know, good to know I'm pretty sure my grandparents stopped using their VCR the moment I moved out of state as they no longer could change the clock on it without me doing so whereas my wife's Dad, older than 70 is quite proficient on the PC...insomuch that it doesn't require any advanced configuration/manipulation
I think the reason why old people don't like using new technology is because they: 1) Don't need it. 2) Don't know how to use it, can't be bothered to learn. 3) Scared to use it incase they break it.
My grandad, was absolutley ace with computers!! He was better than me until I was like 9, which is quite an achievement for most grandads... but then he was also one of those people with all the ham radios and stuff like that. Now, after he died, my nan started trying to learn how to use the computer, and she is ok, considering she is 75, we get the occasional email, which I do think is quite impressive really...
my mom was in a class all by herself...not afraid of learning how to use them but then didn't quite grasp the concept of email. she'd email me and then like minutes later call me to see if I got the email
