*faints* Lawd have mercy, just when you think you've seen it all...somebody raises the bar on Stupid.
No hard feelings please, but please check out the highlighted words & phrases in your post. Believe me, it will turn away genuine, well-mannered, and well-paying clients... I'm not sure why Shaun (owner) or jhmattern (senior mod) have not incorporated certain words in the board's spam filter... had they done so, most such posts would have become irrelevant. Just my 20 cents.
What needs to be done is that Writers need to start providing quality content for clients, and comply with the clients requirements to a reasonable limit, and Clients need to start paying writers well for their content and start offering reasonable requirements for their airticles. The end. Case Closed.
I have to say this topic have some damn funny answers Ok now on topic, i totally agree with the OP and is time (and i am not the only one, this is something that have been extensively talked recently here in DP) to stop with the slave wages of ie: 500 words for 1$. Because this is something that affects everyone, not only the quality content writers that for obvious reasons cant compete with people working for this amount, the customer itself as the quality of the work will never be the same and the OM in general because as we (possibly) all agree there is enough crap (products, content, marketers, etc) out there,no need for more Just like Einstein said: "Only two things are infinite. The human stupidity and the universe, although i am not totally sure about the last one."
Ohh and wait, I didn't remove him from Gtalk at that moment, so he called again and asked if I do freelance programming and I said yes. He told me that he wants that I make a clone of a website (the website was sold for $250K). - How much is your budget? - $200 - That won't even setup for you a design.... - *$ù$^ù^$^'"éù*ù - Good bye End of the story (this should go in client from hell )
This is pretty funny, actually. It's been my experience that clients who operate at the upper ends of the market like professionals who are confident and knowledgeable. They want equals in a sense in both professionalism and skill. Kissing their asses is a huge turn-off. (Many writers here could take notes on that, at least.) If you're waiting for Jenn to take care of this "offensive" language, you'll be waiting a long time. OP - Don't sweat it. If you want to do some sort of discount for repeat business, consider putting together packages that consolidate services at a bit of a discount that are posted on your site. This way you can show clients what you have without as much fuss or wasted time. If he balks, explain why you're worth it. If he walks, be grateful you didn't have to deal with him regarding any real work. You didn't want him in the first place.
tell him you can do 1 cent per word, but every word will be 'and ' and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and $5 please. Now THAT'S unique content.
What? I missed....*lip trembling* some trolling of my posts?! Who WAS that masked poster that asked me for my "rate per kiss"? (If you're reading this, kindly PM me to let me know what I'll be kissing, as my rates per kiss do vary greatly, based on what I'm asked to kiss.)
Please try to understand. Whatever I am stating is for your own good. Anyway, no hard feelings please. And yes, if you do get the time, please do check out the hardware, software, and ISP based forum that I moderate. Try to type in any of the words that I objected to, and it will echo back on the video display unit as <oh no!>.
Senobia, You are a wonderful, delightful writer. A sense of humor is mandatory if any of us are to get through this life intact - and you certainly have that! Guess you're not the only victim of that "masked poster" who looks for fights, taking offense at the least hint of blame. Time for "duck mode"! Meaning - you just hunker down your feathers and let the s**t roll off. Like a duck in a rain-storm. Keep a-grinnin'! Dot PS - Don't ever accept unauthorized kisses! lol
contentboss says {Tell him|Let him know} you can do {one|1} cent per word, but e{ach|very} word will be 'and ' And and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and $5 please. Now that{ is|'s}'s {fresh conten|original tex|unique conten}t.
I just got the strangest urge to shout "AFLAC!" (link for those who didn't "get it") *skips off laffin' and flappin'*
yeah, I know. Thought I'd play it with a straight bat though. Some spinners would have replaced it with 'plus plus plus plus plus'. Pointlessly.
