OLSWANG in London

So I purchased the riverislandjeans.com domain from an auction on this site and today I received this legal book from OLSWANG telling me that I only have a few days to transfer the domain name to them or "ELSE"

So my question is why didn't they just contact me and make an offer to purchase it?! They spent more on the Fedex overnight delivery from the UK to US than I would have charged for the Domain. I think they must get off on using the strong arm tactic.

Anybody else deal with these A-holes?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

A trademark owner is under no obligation to pay anything for the domain. Offering to sell it to them is evidence of a bad faith registration (besides, how are they supposed to know what you would have charged them?). Anytime you purchase or register a domain, it is your obligation to check BEFORE for existing trademark infringement. What this TM holder did was pretty much standard. If you don't turn it over to them, they can file a UDRP to take the domain and/or sue you.

Thanks for your insight. I have released the domain to them. It is worthless and I wished I had never bought it. Learned the hard way I guess.

    Thanx,
    Kevin
