ok, so i have an seo question and i wasn't able to post it under the seo section; don't know why?

anyway, my question is: if i'm trying to rank an inner page for: aperture san diego

and i have an old url as: xxxxxxxxxxxx/downtown/aperture dot com

is it better to keep a few year old page with that url or is it better to change the url to: xxxxxxxxxxx/downtown/san-diego/aperture dot com to have the word: "san diego" included?

this is my question and i'm not sure which way i should lean towards?

What I would do is the following.

    1. leave the old page intact
    2. using a .htaccess file create a rewrite from the old to the new url
    3. on your website link to the new url and start marketing the new url.
    4. after some time when you see that the new site has indexed propperly and is ranking well you can change the .htaccess file to force a redirect to the new url if someone loads up the old one.

sounds good but you didn't answer my question. do you think it is worth it to have the new url because of the word "san diego" in the url. so if someone types: aperture san diego

it would be picked up better because of the word included in the url.
