I just wanted to point out that the old threads should be locked.

Most of here might have noticed that very very old threads are being unnecessarily bumped(not by thread owner but by some idiot who doesnt see the date and posts in it.)

    Examples : -

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=29479

There should be something like bumping such old threads unnecessary will get you warning or something or those threads which arent active by the thread owner for 'x' number of days will be locked etc?

    Just a suggestion :)

Report the post and they may receive an infraction if it was blatant.

At some point I'm probably going to come up with something that warns them it's an old thread.

Better that the thread owner Requests for a thread lock rather than playing it himself.

    Not disclosing but,

In a few forums i see these warnings :
"You are going to reply a thread which is 2 months old : Think before doing it"

Hmm we should really be thankful to Shawn for his custom programming to try to continuously make this forum a better place...wish I could do that to some of my forums.

Thats the best solution. Locking old threads is not the way to go.

I also agree that locking isnt the option and there are so many threads, mods will get mad if they start locking.

I believe as Shawn said, report the posts and they will get infraction and the idea of warning them that it is old thread.

    ;)

An old thread is a new thread to a new member.
