OLD site.. NEw Design, SEO?

I am going to be redesigning my company website within the next few months. The site is over 10 years old, but HORRIBLE. Contains no content and is build in flash. Right now it is ranked 3, when i started working for them, it was not ranked at all because they never did anything with it.

I am going to redo the whole thing. Can anyone give me the best advice on what sort of design i should use, where to start etc?

Dont use flash, use good content, and get strong links!

Yes, i have no intention of using flash aside from the company logo which spins.

I am wondering about which elements to put the site into.. frames? a sitemap? etc..

I need this to be done right

as for content, i am going to hire someone from here to write an article about each of the products that my company works with and buys. that would be good for the site wouldnt it?

no frame please. and sitemap yes!. Besides, do not use image as your navigation, use more of the H1 tag and make sure you have the title tag as descriptive as possible.

Frames are terrible, site map is a given, I would suggest building it using a CMS that way they can add stuff in themselves. Customers are generally happy with that, and they index extremely well! Check out www.totaldmag.com/seo.html for more SEO info.

Hey Lemon, building without frames is quite easy, you can just use as I mentioned a CMS. If you would like I can charge you a minimal fee to install and customize a CMS and you can then take it from there.

i have scripts in cpanel for mambla joomla, etc.

I know they would be fairly easy to set up, but its customizing them that would put me in a stump.

Those sites look neat. What program do you use for CMS ?

As I said, I built a custom mod for that shopping cart software to use it as a CMS. I prefer to use it, I only charge 50.00 to install it with my mod.

What about using the php include staement for any items/menus/etc that appear on each page, that way you change in 1 place shows on all pages.
