Old Domains vs New

There is alot of talk about wether or not old domains perform better then new in SERPs with agressie link building... What do you guys think? An old domain that was never re-registered from 1996-1997 vs a domain that was just registered? The sandbox is obviously there, but is it worth getting an older domain from an SEO standpoint?

From what I know, it is, but some disagree with me.

I would say that the benefit from the old domain is those inbound links that had been there for ages (especially from the trusted sites).

There is plenty of evidence that points out that older domains are attributed more "trust juice" by Goggles SE.

Its better to have old domain name.
But its not better to rely only on old domain without paying attention to formal SEO. :)

Old domains also don't have such a chance to be sandboxed.

Thats a good thing, they can also rank better in SE.

if site had no incoming links it's not important if it's old or new, but if old site only 100backlinks for few years that really counts
