"Old Domain" question

    Hi guys,

    will it really help for seo and therefore good serps if domain name is 5 years old (was parked with SEDO)?

    or a new domain will just work fine if i use proper SEO?

    If site has rank already and still has same links and is same topic it could help. Your best bet with new domain name is to register it for 5 years or more. They look at how long it is registered even if it is a new one.

    i want to start a new project with highly competitive keywords. so thinking about regestering a new domain name or just buy an old one....

    Old domain might already have incoming links to it, however if you change the theme of the website from which it was originaly formed to a new one, the old backlinks would be devalued with time.. hence waste, If you plan to build a new site on almost the same theme as the site was earlier, it will help..

    This is not true. There are domains that expire in a year (of course they won't, because the owners will renew) and they are ranked #1 on Google.

    I'm talking about e.g. wpthemesfree dot com. It's a new domain registered in May, is registered for one year only and is already #1 on Google for "free wordpress themes" and #2 for "wordpress themes". So I believe it's just proper SEO.
