My friend used to make porn sites for DMOZ, and he would make the domains have like 10 instances of the keyword. Apparently this worked for AOL search results, and he got listed for some pretty big keywords. I'm wondering if anyone can offer any of their own stories on these old search engine algorithms?
Is old your keyword? AOL now used Google for it's search, and you'd be hard pressed to even find a DMOZ link on their site (even though they own the ODP, lol). I can say that TOPIX got hot, and is still going strong due to how the founders of both (as they are pretty much the same) used the Directory for it's promotion. I can also say that at one time, being a DMOZ editor brought awe from the masses as to work for the ODP used to be something that was way cool (now it's just kinda cool, in some circles ). *shrug* But why do you want old stories? It would be better for all to hear some good and current stories of how to best use the ODP.
