Can some wizard of dmoz tell me what its all about and whats the hypie about it in simple words. Cause seeing so many threads i decided to submit my site also but got lost 10 times and submitted my sites i think in some category whose name and link i forgot and have no way of checking if my site has been accepted or put on hold for another 100 years :D

Its a directory whose links are highly valued by the search engines. Its free to submit and its unlikely you will be accepted quickly (if at all).

It has a search feature so you can search for your site to see if its been accepted or not.

Google sometimes pulls the description of your site from dmoz into its search results which gives an indication of how much it values it.

AKA ODP = Open Directory Project. Editors tend to mostly use ODP, non-editors use DMOZ more commonly. The two terms are completely interchangeable.

I can think of a few four-letter words they are completely interchangeable with.

LOL. You DMOZ nazis get so angry when someone makes jokes. I know humor is frowned upon at the Resource Zone, but you can lighten up a bit out here in the real world.

Was it posted to me? I wouldn't waste one of my rep points giving out a red to PortProphecy for that comment. I thought the 4 letter words he was thinking of were "Neat", "Cool", "Well" "Done" "Guys", "Love" "Y'all", "xxxx" ["Huge" "Kiss" or maybe "Hugs"]

I'm sure it wasn't you that repped me. You seem like you could come up with some kind of comment better than "stay on topic." Some of these rep noobs just have no originality. :p

I remember bitching about red reps when I had only been here for a few days, lol.

You've been here for over 6 months. Get over it. :) (the smiley makes it better...)

If someone is giving out red reps here to people who don't stay on topic, costing themselves one each time they do, they are going to end up banning themselves for a week if they visit all the threads gworld has posted in. :D

But gworld is always on topic, it's always the same one of course, and mostly has nothing to do with the rest of the thread.

It is always good to see how supposedly honest editors are always so protective and supportive of money making practices.
