hi i have a number of blogs that i posted a lot of duplicate content (articles) onto a couple of years ago which will obviously flagged by google, the sites are not banned however. i want to remove this duplicate content and write some decent original articles for them. my question is, the sites are on quite good domains so i want to reuse them, will google unflag the domains once the duplicate content is replaced with original? any advice appreciated especially if you've actually had experience of what i'm suggesting. thanks in advance
Well, simply having proper copy is going to help in the first place. You can't go wrong adding unique copy. It will clearly help. Nigel
hi nigel thanks for the reply. i was unsure if google places a permanent black mark against the site, or if it's a temporary one that's lifted as soon as the duplicate content is removed.
How can you definitely know that Google penalized your sites? Replacing the duplicate content for original one will help to demark the sites on a long perspective (few months).
OK, so how duplicated is duplicate? The reason I ask, is that I have a few feeder sites for my main site. They have a similar (same) design and menu system, but the main content is unique. Mostly..... They use different urls to capture specific keyword searches. So in terms of duplicate content, what does Google count? Design, menu system. Main content, keywords, description, title? How much of the page content needs to be the same to be considered duplicate. Tough question I suspect. But maybe someone has some personal experience to share?
