This is getting very frustrating.... I've mentioned in other threads about the reduction in visitors for the past 30 days but nobody has really gave me a good explanation on to why this has happened. Recap: 25-30 visits per day from search engines based on keyword traffic. As of today.....no traffic from keywords and looks like my blog is somewhat gone from Google searching as well. Its still indexed but that is about it. PLEASE someone explain why this happens..... The blog I am talking about is listed in my signature. Thanks
How old is your blog? Is your main KW Computer Consulting or something else? Could be that you're in a competitive niche and other sites have moved up higher in the SERPs than your site. Also, if you have a new site, chances are that Google gave your site a bonus in the rankings since it's new and recently dropped it back. Just keep building good backlinks and give it some time. You should see the traffic come back. Hope that helps!
Blog has been up since March 2008. I guess I am not really sure of what my main keyword was...I have been thinking about reducing my topics to a less wide of a range of computer related sections. I read somewhere that Google frowns on too many links......does this mean the outgoing links that I see everyone put inside their articles? I started doing this and maybe that could be a bad thing as well. Or maybe I should just not put too many links per article. As for building back links....this seems impossible for a beginner blog unless blackhat is used...which I do not want to do. What is the best (and safe) way to build backlinks. Thanks
In order to rank well in the SERPs, you'll need to settle on what your main keyword is. You should write articles related to that keyword. Once you've achieved good ranking for your main keyword, then you can target other keywords. I see you're using Adsense. Try not to write about too many different topics as this can show irrelevant ads on your site. In your articles, point a link back to your site with the anchor text being your main keyword or a variation. Keep your KW density to 2-4% per article, otherwise, you'll be penalized by Google for keyword stuffing. Building backlinks slowly is the best way to bring a new site up in the rankings. Best way to build links include the following: - Commenting on DoFollow blogs and pointing the link (name should be anchor text for main KW) to your site. - Posting comments on related forums with links in your Signature (like on DP) - Write unique content and submit them to article directories like Ezine, GoArticles - Use Article Marketing services to effectively build backlinks - Do link exchanges with related sites The list goes on and on but these are the basics to follow for white-hat techniques. Hope that helps!
When building links, remember to not use the same anchor text. Try multiple variations, ex: computer consulting computer consultant chase computer consultant chase computer
I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the Google Sandbox Effect. I've had new sites go up, and rank well for the first few months, then see a drop in SERPs soon after. I guess it's Google's way of making sure you are there for the long-term, and not just an overnight arbitrage site.
Thanks guys.....I feel better now.....I will continue to build on this site and narrow down my keywords.
