OK, so I have two sites. I have a main company site, then I have a sort of content site that has links everywhere pointing at the main site. The reason I did this was the main site was too hard to expand on and add new stuff. I am actually getting better serps and traffic from the main site even though the content site has much more articles, pictures, and PR. Should I quit screwing around with the content site and have someone combine the two sites with a full re-design? Heres the 'content site' > http://custom-cabinets.org (nvm the horrible html, I made the site myself lol) And heres the real company site> http://jwpincorporated.com So should I quit screwing around and just combine the two sites and have it redesigned?
hi ly2, I'm sorry to be blunt here, but putting black text on a brown background makes it impossible to read, so in answer to your question, my thought is redesign, or at least change the text color. Hope this helps
How long has your "Company" site been active? The longer the site has been active and indexed, the better it will do. The content site may need to age before you see some results. I wouldnt give up on the content site.
Well, generally you will experience better SERPs if your site was combined into one. More content, better SERPs. A re-design can be a difficult process, but it can be well worth it. The Internet is such a critical communication tool, often it deserves high priority. I'd reccomend a redesign. Like above, I agree, that brown on black is really tough to read and most likely hindering your site's performance. If youre interested in help from a consultant to insure that the redesign falls in line with your strategic objectives, give Spartan Internet Consulting a call and learn a little bit more. We've worked with a number of trade industry members and contractors before, with much success. http://www.spartaninternet.com
yea, custom-cabinets.org was never really ment to be read, although all the articles on the entire site are 100% unique. But really, it was just for the SE's in hopes of driving more traffic to jwpincorporated.com I think I will have the HTML version of JWP redone and either leave the flash version as is, or just do away with it all together. I just hate to throw the html and flash pages away, seems like such a waste. =\ I need to find a designer here though that knows what theyre doing. I dont want to do this again =\
How much are you willing to spend on your site. If you want it done right, there is a lot of behind the scenes programming that can benefit you. For instance, a client log-in and multiple search features. I think you have to figure out what you want people to do once they get to your site. Start a newsgroup or forum for passionate people in your field. Chances are, people arent' going to buy right away. Good Luck.
Honestly I would merge the two sites. I have a friend that does web design and I have to say he's very good at it. If you want I can talk to him about making you a custom site / customer login where they can order your products and ect... If you need more information just contact me via PM.
Hi Joseph! I hope I had the right person, I called and left a message on the number at JWP. I am in Louisville, KY and my website is www.thelouisvilleseo.com if you would like some assistance in figuring out exactly what you need. Regardless if you choose me or not, at least you'll be informed. My number is 502-403-8542 - Rob Docherty. Thanks Joseph, and to everyone else... how are ya!?
We dont need any sort of login function, we would never take an order over email. We would most certainly need to talk on the phone. The contact page is perfect, no need for people to create accounts. As for the web design, yes I need someone to do it. However, I'm going to have to outsource it. I'm sure you guys are all great, but with very high prices. I am going to have to look at scriptlance.com or something for the designer I think. If you're patient, you can find some real skilled people on scriptlance.
