    Hi guys,

Just finished to design my new website. First thing I have done is adding the url to Google and submit it to Addme.com.

What should I do now? I am very new to SEO and am confused on how keywords work. Could anyone help me to understand WHICH and HOW MANY keywords to use?

    Thx guys,
    Ferg

keywords - it depends what type of site you have got. Use some most-used-(searched) words for some good results.
How many - 5-10 of them

Try Google adwords tool to find keywords that you think is best to work. Check keyword competition and monthly search values.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

It is an online community. 5-10 keywords isn't it too little? At the moment I have 60...but it is probably not right, isn't it? Once I have my keywords, shall I just put them in my website or do I need to do anything with Google?

    Thx again

You've chosen 60 keywords? That's far too many. Stick with 5-10 and focus on those. Then in a few months expand to another 5-10.

    Hi There,
Choosing appropriate keywords is major thing in SEO. These keywords depend on the website and popularity of the keyword. Next thing you need to check is the competition you have for that particular keyword. Then you need to do onpage optimization to your site. Once these steps are done you need to do linkbuilding to rank your site for a particular keyword. If any queries at any moment many people and I are here to assist you further. :)

Once you got your keywords you need to focus on creating original content that people want to read. Basically, you need to start building content and links.

@timbonitus : I would first like to concentrate on content and keywords and have no hurry in creating back-links unless you are satisfied with the on-page work. What do you say ?..

Start doing some keywords research related to your site.
You can use google ad words.
Search at least 20 keywords for every pages of your site, and then choose atleast 5 or 10 relevant keywords for your site.

You could start doing also on page optimization on your site

I am sure that you use 60 short tail keywords.. You should use 5-10 keywords but the long tail ones.

Take those 5-10 long tail kws and create 20 articles.
    • Post to ezine and goarticles.
    • Take those same articles and create pdfs, submit to ebook directories.
    • Join forums in your niche. Contribute and put link in your signature.

First do good on-page and then start off-page.
