I've been submitting to directories all weekend. the fun i've had Anyways, i've done about 600 now, i dont expect all to except, so take it down to 500 -- so in 4-6 months i'll have 500 backlinks. sweet BUT, what can i do to get people on my site NOW? not in 5-6months time. I've got $200 to spend, so far: *600 directories (free- i did it) *3 articles to 96 sites ($20, as the guy wrote and submited) I dont know if articles are listed any quicker then directories. What would you sugest to do to get real traffic quicker then directories? Should i just pay someone to submit to even more dire's so in a few months my site will be good. Pay for submiting to free ones? or pay to be listed in a few paied ones? Pay for more articles? I dont really know what to do. (p.s im taking peoples advice in MKInfo's post about what to spend $150 on aswell -- im selling alot of items on ebay, with an ad for my site in them. lol) Cheers guys.
I think you are going to be pretty solid... What site is it that you are paying all of this stuff for?
Keep writing more artcles, keep your directory submits upto date, find more content for your site, build links from similar or related sites, write a news release, submit your site to digg.com or shoutwire.com ... rinse and repeat until you die
its my www.itsall3.com site - games and stuff man. I had never head of Digital Point when i started this site - otherwise i would have gone into an easier market - but after spending all the time making it, i'd now like to see it make some cash back. I'd love to get vistors now though instead of so long down the line. @superpump i've read that adsense might not be a good idea for sites that only make income from adsense?
You should do some on page optimisation. All the pages of your site seem to have the same title tag and little unique (textual) content. write a small paragraph for each one. You might want to look at re-writing your URLs to make them for Search engine friendly. To get some quick traffic, i'd look at some of the myspace traffic generation services that are offered on this site.
This is somthing i havent done. All my stuff like metatags are taken out of same header - theres nothing for specific pages. I'll look into this man. thanks. Anyone have any more advice to get instant real traffic? Would anyone suggest paying to be submited into the yahoo directory? Cheers.
Do directory submissions help that much? I have submitted to about 600 myself these last few months. Will that help me more down the road? I hope so.
eBay will cancel all of your auctions if they catch you advertising your website in the auctions. Just a heads up ...
That is true, but if you advertise your link on your "me page" that is okay. I have had my link on my "me page" for long time now. And, I put some text on the acutal auction page directing visitors to my me page. But I wouldn't advise you to put the link directly on your auction page.
Yeah, have links to your "about me" page. If you have direct links to your site on your auction, you will be in deep doo-doo. Cause ebay, unlinke google, does check each and every auction. Plus the sellers and buyers on ebay are very darn quick to report any auction they think is a bit shady.
I would recommend buying high PR links on related pages. You can also offer people incentives, run contests etc. to become active visitors at your site with some sort of a membership and community system.
Who will visit your site from a directory? No one. Directories are good for links only. Traffic from search engines comes for those who can get themselves in the first 10 or 20 places. So, try linking to sites in your field with traffic. Buy there links with your $200 if necessary. But make sure they are in a prominant spot.Buying links from obscure places for traffic is as useful as listing in a directory for traffic. Also consider some deep links from keywords withing a relevent site. This is quite cost effective. Finally, try more traditional marketing such as pblicising your url wherever potential customers hang out. Print some cards with site details and leave them around gaming places. Email friends. Post on forums. Advertise in newsletters. Do blogs, whatever. But don't just wait for the directories to bring anything more than a warm inner glow of false hope.
Ok, say i spend my $200 budget on some high PR links on other peeps game sites... Havent i just missed the pagerank update , so wont see anything from my money for 3 months? Also how imidiate would the help be from these links? Regards.
i havent done any press releases yet (i didnt think my site was really good enought to "announce to the web" its existance. I guess i'll give it ago once i get more content. Does anyone think its worth paying to be listed in the yahoo directory??? Cheers again for all the great posts! Regards.
