I got no traffic. Google index'd my site but it doesn't show up in searches. I dont know where to start. I submitted my site to stumble and a few directories, but I got no back links. I need some help on this as im very new to how to get traffic.
Hi There, It takes some time, but you could also try and buy traffic. It also depends on your content quality and interest of the people who search, pagerank etc.
Submitting to a 'few' directories and the odd stumble will not help. You need to submit to as many directories as you possibly can using the keywords you want to target as anchor text. Keep promoting, post in forums and use your site as a sig link in your signature which can be found in the user cp here at DP. Consider some PPC so people know about your site and if it is good, they will go back there. Contact similar sites and build up loads of backlinks.

Woah, that is so sweet druni85, Hey auron, I think basically you need do 3 things. 1. Find a niche you are good at and keep building unique content everyday. 2. Roam around in some forums related to your niche and participate. Of course put your site at signature. And this is just a starter to get the snowball started on rolling. 3. Stop worrying about your traffic and adsense.
You will have to wait. Write some good content and submit to social bookmarking sites for some instant traffic. If you have a decent budget you can promote your like on other related sites by buying text links or reviews (permanent blog posts).
You need to be Patient . Keep working on your site by adding good content and getting good backlinks and slowly you will see the rise in traffic . >>>>>>>>>> Maintain your Patience <<<<<<<<<
Actually, you could start right here at DP : 1. Put your site in your sig and start posting 2. Submit to as many directories. 3. Go to Freebies and join the SU and digg exchange. 4. Ask for a link exchange 5. Start praying and hoping you'll start to get backlinks and traffic. Good luck!
If you have a truly interesting website with unique content, the traffic will come itself. Ask yourself, "Why would I want to visit my website?" Additionally, it's probably not wise to put Adsense on a new startup. It's better to put Adsense up once you have a large enough userbase (at least 50-100 uniques a day). My two cents.
hehehe the main problem for everyone is to got more travic / visitors. please be patient, submit your web into more directory, search enggine, social networking, social bookmarking, also write some article and submit into article page (digg) and the harder one is patient

Ok as many other said, you will need to be patient and work really hard. Your first step should be some SEO tweaking around your site, playing with your HTML code, placing H1, H2 etc tags, making your HTML source code readable for SE bots. Once done that, you will have to start playing with your title tags, use smart phrases with keywords that will speak about your content (you can already start to search for a software that can show you keyword overture to let you know which keywords are competitive and have search queries and which no). Now, you can start playing a little with backlinks, using your keywords as anchor text for linking back to your site. Once you have done this (done is a useless word, you should NEVER be done with this) and you know you have a quality content that people will like to read you can start some advertising, image advertising, nothing is better than a image for advertising your site, a visible, quality and intriguing ad banner that people would love to click and discover whats behind that banner. More unique content, more unique content, more unique content... You will need to repeat those methods day after day, week after week, month after month, it is going to be tough, even tougher if your budged is low. But if you don't give you can bet you will have success. p.s. you will learn a lot from your mistakes, just don't forget to do the remedies of your mistakes quickly.
Dude if you made 20.00 in one day on Adsense please tell me what your doing...I barely brake 1.00 per day..Congrats
it's not gonna happen overnight lol . my advice is not to put adsense on until 6 months to a year of developement.
