Been wanting to do something for awhile.

    But now what?

I know how to register the name, but I really know nothing about script, little about HTML. I need help

My service is in an industry that I was once involved in. Back in the day I advertised my service in newspapers and in the phone book. Now I want a site dedicated to this industry and sell "memberships" for a monthly fee for my targeted traffic to link to. I belive more and more people are using the internet verses phone books and newspaper ads. My sevice will be monthly $14.99. I remember buying yellow page ads over $300 per month, so I do believe this will gain accounts.

It will be nationwide referall and my home page I want a map of the states with a link to the state when they hover over the state like this:www.carsoup.com/changelocation

    How do I make that?

The actual service provided will be local so thats why the need of the map to see who is availible in their area to provide the service to the customer. Customer pays nothing. This could also work for like a plumming service or electrition but mine is different. The service provider actually pays the customer to perform the service. I will not disclose my service content so please do not ask.

I also would like to have it automated so my clients create their own account after they pay. I would like to have the card service collect the fee every month and somehow terminate the account if the card is closed or declined or the customer chooses not to renew.

I need a host. And would like one that can do all of these things for me. Is this http://buildit.sitesell.com/doitmyself.html a good one for my needs? Or could anyone refer a good site that would have a templet I would use?

Something like a predeterminded drop down boxes so my clients ads will all be the same font and information type. Maybe a premium account for higher charge would be bigger text and top of page?

I plan to have the home page and 50 paged linked for every state which include my clients. If it really takes off, I would like to break down the states by cities.

I figure if I get 2 accounts per state the revenue will be $1499 per month plus any adsence or other easy type revenue. Is this decent thinking? If I was able to get 1 account with every major city itself, well that would be unbeliveable. I've owned several business in the past and always hated the fact that I was so localized with my services. Now I'm thinking national!

Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated!

I was thinking that today. Maybe over my head to build it myself right now but maybe have it built and then work it? Thank you for the reply.

Everything I listed you can do? How would I know you wouldn't just take the idea and steal it? I figure a very good programmer could have this up in 20 hrs or less. Dont think its too difficult, I just dont know what I'm doing.

How does this work? you build it then send it to me or I tell you URL and you put it up? Do you have a portforlio? I am very interested. I am chosing to try to do an online business verses another local "walk in" business. Really believe this is the way to go. I am currently in between projects and have some time to do this now. I have been self employed since 94, owned several business in past with huge expenses to have minimal sales. And sales only to the geographical local of the business.

Yeah you peeps might think I'm a late comer but what about ten years from now? Were only in the infantcy stage with this internet thing. You agree?

I will give it more thought and your first on my list. Can you send some examples of your work?

I plan to make my living on this if it works out.

You will want to make sure whomever you go with to build the site has a contract/agreement that states the ideas and software developed are owned by you, etc. Make sure they sign a non-disclosure agreement, etc.

If you are paranoid, you can talk to a lawyer about getting the proper forms in place before moving forward. Better safe than sorry if you are planning on investing a lot into this, which it sounds like you are.

    Good luck!
