I know its totally against tos to put your code into a toolbar. What I was wondering was if you could do that... would google be able to track it and somehow know you were doing that? I have been reading their guide lines because I wanted to make a google search page on my site with just my logo and a search box... just for the simple fact the regular boxes stand out too much on my content pages (color contrast). I posted my other question in the review section... probably should have been posted here.
Anyway... can they know how someone is searching... like if the search was proformed from a toolbar?
I just thought that would be a cool idea until I saw it was against tos... but being curious I just wondered if they just forbid it or if they could actually track you doing it... not that I would go against tos or anything :)
how about my other question? about a page with just my logo and a search box? Can I do that... casue it doesn't seem to be against tos.

I think you have to have eitehr the Google logo or the Google search written on the search box. I believe it is against TOS to remove one of these depending on the style of the box you choose. The simple fact remains is that Google provides the search facility and the money if anyone was to clicks on the subsequent page, therefore their name must remain on it.

If you have to ask "will they catch me if I do so and so" then you probably know the answer -- it's not allowed, or you wouldn't be wondering if they can catch you doing it.

I agree, if you have to ask if you'll get caught you already know you will. You're real question is when and how bad will the punishment be.

Plus, why rip off Google's search engine? Just give it due credit if you use it. You wouldn't want someone to rip off your work. Don't plagerize.

Previously EffectiveBrand (a free toolbar provider) experimented Adsense (revenue sharing) in their search result pages and they were told to remove Adsense from those pages by Google.

The answer is: No. You cannot do that, unless of course Google itself has approved your idea.

Well I have to say, your original post was kind of hard to figure out. But anyways, yeah, the page you linked to is good to go. There's nothing against the TOS about it, as it's a real part of your site, and not THE only part.
