Thats 2 good views but i agree good writers should all put there prices up but i think some $0.01 do this to build rep then charge more???
I know exactly what you mean and hence the following thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1022368
I completely agree with you. You cannot judge a writer based upon their rates alone. There are plenty of writers who work for 1 cent per word that can do excellent work. There are also writers who charge more that provide terrible service. To the others that have said things like "there's no cheap QUALITY articles that price under $5" are completely and absolutely incorrect. I have been hiring writers here and there for years and I know what I am talking about.
Among all the other things, guys why do you forget that $.01 for someone in the US is not same as $.01 for some one in India, Pakistan, Philippines or any of the third world countries. Most of the $1/100 writers (I am a $2-$5/100 writer for most of my jobs ) are students from the third world nations, and $.01 is a sizable income for us if we keep getting regular work, and being graduate level students, some writers of this cadre DO provide good work. It is just that you have to filter the right guys Regards, Jeewant
Lots more PMs, thanks guys. Some are looking really good. I'll wade through them and get back to you in the next few days. Would you mind if I provided some feedback? This is not intended to be arrogant or offensive, but constructive. Many people here obviously make a living from providing writing services, but most seem to be lacking a bit in sales/marketing skills So maybe some customer feedback would help? Keep in mind I was asking for native English speakers, experienced writers and had specified technical topics. (outlined in another thread that most PMs where in reponse to) Based on the mountain of PMs I have recieved, here are a few customer perceptions: At least 50% of the PMs were in broken English. 80% or so were clearly not native English speakers. 50% or so made no effort to market themselves with samples, merely saying stuff like 'sure dude PM me'. Yeah right! Of those that provided samples, about 50% were generic and bland, about barbie dolls, booking a holiday, on line games etc. All of which had a very similar style and construction which looked like a 'template'. I appreciate that there must be a lot of time wasters shopping for services here, but for those who took the time and effort to provide quality examples and some of their background, thanks. I'll be in touch soon If anyone would still like to shoot me a PM, with samples and rates, please do. The sort of topics I'll be seeking articles on are: Warehouse Design Distribution Network Design S&OP Outsourcing Transport management Thanks
I would have charged $6.00 per article but I am not familiar with the topics you have chosen and would have had to do a lot more research then I usually do. To find a good writer, ask for a test article. Rhonda
Toplink, I'm glad this topic has helped you find some quality writers so you know not everyone on Digital Point doesn't do quality work. I hope in the future you'll remember this post, as well as the writers who responded here. I think he provides some valuable feedback for content providers as well. Remember guys, you're trying to sell your product to him. You want to make it as appealing as possible by making sure your grammar is correct, your punctuation and spelling are spot on, and you have the ability to provide a few samples should the customer ask. If you can't do any of these things, you shouldn't be here on Digital Point. Thanks again, Toplink.
Not sure why this thread was closed? A bit too close to the bone perhaps http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1019685 But I would agree with the general consensus, you get what you pay for. I have tried the $3 / article vendors. They were utter crap. I don't care what the so called professional writers say about this. Such as "I am a professional writer and I only charge $5 per article". A professionally written article cannot be written for that price, if the writer actually makes a living from writing. Even if they live in a cheap cost of living country. Why? Because a professional takes TIME to write quality original material. The trouble with trying to find good article writers here, is that those trying to sell their services, seem to get all their friends to write rave reviews about their services Trying to find a quality professional writer here is a bit like kissing frogs to find a prince. I'm still kissing Sorry to rant a bit, but honestly guys, who do you think you are kidding
Toplink. PM me with what you need done. If I am able to do it, and you don't like my quality, you don't owe me a dime. I'm challenging you to show you I can provide quality at great prices.
OK, I will. I may be being a bit harsh on all the writers here. I guess Articles/Writers fall into a number of categories. 1 - Quantity not Quality. Writes articles that are really just for submission to article sites, for the sole purpose of getting links. They just need to have lots of keywords in them and a couple of links. Probably no one will actually 'read them'. Just trawl the web for content and rewrite it. 2 - Mass Market. Slightly better quality, because they actually need to make sense and not embarrass the writer / sponsor / product. If the product / service is something really generic, these are probably OK. Like on line drugs, mobile phones etc. Nothing really new or unique. 3 - Specific. Much better quality in terms of subject matter knowledge. May be a bit of an expert in the field, but not a very good writer, or conversely a very good writer, who has done some research. Unique and original content. 4 - Professional Industry Specific. This is probably a person who writes for a living, maybe by writing for industry journals / websites. Their work will be of a high quality in terms of writing skills and technical knowledge. Unique and original content. 5 - Professional Broad Subject. This is probably a professional writer / journalist that writes full time or freelance for the major newspapers / magazines. Articles are well researched, challenging, thought provoking etc. Just my thoughts on what a writer / article actually are. I am really looking for writers in categories 3 - 4. P.S. I don't really see content as being unique, just because it manages to scrape through and pass some kind of software test for plagiarism Guess what we have here, is a range of opinions on what a professional writer really is. Just my thoughts...
