Just my two cents about appreciating rupee. I had thought about this situation 3-4 years ago itself but never imagined it will actually happen and in such a horrifying way. It is really eating up on profit making potential of established business.

Let's just hope that dollar will bounce back but with the current situation that we are seeing, it is most unlikely. It will be even worse if oil starts to be priced in Euro, then that would be catastrophe. Basically my net earning has also been slashed because of the weak dollar. I'm not thinking of converting to my local currency for now. Just pray for the best.

There are some better bargains now in the US and it will help the dollar to buy American.

I think a problem that many freelancers face is that we charge our clients in USD (via PP for example) and that we are getting less and less in our own currencies once we withdraw money to our bank accounts. As most freelancers are not increasing their fees, you are kind of stuck and end up getting less and less money for the work you do. I don't see the Dollar increasing in strength anytime soon, possibly after the next election.

The dollar will not increase in strength until interest rates increase in the US

This is being predicted by market analyst that in coming time software companies will be suffering loses if they trade full in $ so they have to do mix trading...$ EURO INR etc etc

Personally i have also felt the loss but not to that extent :D

not to be anti american or anything but it is all about oil money
we saw the doller drop to the euro as more oil countries (APEC?)sold oil in euros
iraq was about to do the same just before america put paid to that by taking the oil fields foir themselves
if the other oil rich countries convert to the euro the doller will crash as there is so much paper money floating around the world (we are talking billions in note form)that would make its way back to the usa and the econamy would collapse
obviously the americana know this and is trully the main only reason behind the iraq invasion IMHO

    my 2p's worth

Why New York? Why not Santa Barbara, San Diego, Los Angeles, Irvine, or Fontana? You can find a nicer places than NYC. :D

China and Japan have more to do with supporting the dollar. You will see more IT being oursourced to china as the dollar appreciates against the rupee.
