Oh shit, my site PR went to 0 - when did PR updated?

In the recent PR update my site smsbucket.com lost PR from 3 to 2

But today when I saw the site it is showing PR0

I confirmed the pagerank here as well

Did google again update the PR?

Now I will have to work hard again to gain the PR... Too much work.:(

If you loose PR on occasions other than the regular quarterly update, you have been penalized for selling links or violated other rules set by google. What did you do?

    oh, really?

But my site is still appearing in google search results. Type ( Mobile SMS Collection ) and see my site is coming on #3 for google.com.pk (since I am in Pakistan).

I didn't do anything new recently... Just offered FREE links to those who join my forum.. May be that thing went wrong for me :(

How can I correct this thing? Any thing I can do now?

One more thing: Last month when I checked my banklinks on checkpagerank.net it was showing zero backlink from google. But now it is showing 4 backlinks from google.

Edit: I just checked google webmaster tools and in there it is saying Pages from your site are included in Google's index. - I think I have not been banned by google. Some other problem happened which I am trying to figure out.

I think it's a temporary update, might be their are working on something and the page rank is not available for now. You can check it later to ensure your site was dropped.

Oh! Thats sad, it happened with you. But when page rank is updated occasionally, then it means you have been penalized by Google.

PR penalty is different from SERP penalty and currently you are facing PR penalty.

That must have happened because of Google. They regularly check domains for link sales. When they find anyone making their site a link farm then they penalize them. Thats the story behind this. It can happen if you sell links or even do a lot of paid posts. One of my blog recently went down from PR3 to 0. So keep a check on your fingers buddy. :D

Seems a PR penalty not a SERP penalty.

I doubt you will. PR on the toolbar is only useful for selling links.

Hi ... all great advice and explanations, offered. Alternatively, I have 3 sites, which normally range PR1 to PR3, and once or twice a year, at least one of these sites reports a toolbar PR of 0. A few days to two weeks later, the previous PR returns. The same goes for back links. My primary site has about 18,000 known back links, but google reports anywhere from 5 to 11,300. google operations are in a permanent state of flux. Wait and see if your PR returns. After a couple of months, if your PR doesn't return, review your site and your on-line practices. My bet is the PR returns, while you're sleeping, one night. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Oh, Ok then I will no more sell links/banners over there for sometime... will just run it without doing any activity there.

I am still getting 200+ visitors daily - Thank God I didn't get the SERP penalty :)

    Thanks for all your replies.

You must have done something other than you stated, otherwise i dont think for offering free links you will be given a severe penalty like pr3 to pr 0.

You can sell banners and text links with nofollow, that won't affect your PR.

No, Really I didn't do anything. Yes I do have paid links but those links were sold few months ago, not recently.

Is it possible that one of my competitor went to google and reported my site that I am selling links and google took this action, is it possible?

I tried that too but no one interested in buying no-follow text links or banners :(

I wouldn;t worry too much about PR unless you are actively selling links based on it and are suddenly in trouble. The most important thing is SERPS, which you are still in so be glad!
