Can you recommend a good chair / stool for sitting at the computer for long periods of time that doesn't cost above 500 bucks?
Seriosly though, I have heard that sitting on medicine balls (the ones you use at the gym to stretch out) are very good for sitting. Past that, look for some thing that is VERY adjustable and well padded. With those 2 traits you should be able to get a good fit. I have found that no matter what I do, if I work without breaks and stretching, my shoulders start to hurt from having them in one position for to long. Good luck.
My problem seems to be repetitive motion stress but instead of giving me carpel tunnell it affects my rear deltoid on my left side. Feels like it is tearing. Doctor is just like. Take aspirin. So I thought I might change how I work. But I really don't know the correct posture because when I look up how you should sit, none of the desk and chairs are constructed that way.
Good chairs cost over $500 but you can get them from used furniture dealers for much less. They usually have newer chairs due to mergers, failed companies, etc. I have a Steelcase Leap chair at home (got it while I worked for Steelcase so it cost less than for me but over $1000 for the general public) and use a Herman Miller Aeron at work which I think lists for $800. Check out http://www.homeofficechairs.info/ for some help. Yeah it's one of my sites.
