Being a web designer and being a server administrator are two totally different things. If you think "I can design a website, so running the backend shouldn't be that much harder.", think again.

If you don't fully understand administrating a web hosting company with something as simple as cPanel's WHM, then you should walk away now and come back when you've gained more experience or at least hire someone that does have the skill set to do so.

Sorry to be blunt, but too many people do this too frequently and unfortunately, innocent clients pay the price when the person finds it's too difficult and leave their clients hanging when they go out of business.

If you are gonna get into Web Hosting business then better check Web Hosting talks forum WHT. They have tutorials and tech details about everything related to hosting and 1000's of hosting providers hanging there.

providing support for web hosting clients can be pretty hard thing. You need to learn all technical stuff as well as how to claim down freaking out clients.

Thank you all very much for your all responses!

I am not only web designer, I am also web developer. I have more skills in web development than web design although web design isn't a challenge to me. The way it's going, it's doing great and getting along. But only ONE problem I have is that I am stuck right at between "server" option inside clientexac where you're supposed to connect to its server, if possible. For instance, when my customer purchase a host from me and they will be paid through clientexac since that's only billing software I came across, but I am trying to figure the options in server option to try to get it to where it can automatically set up their account and host for ready to go. Because at this moment, only I can do is go to clientexac to approve customer and then go to WHM and create an account and then add THAT to his account from clientexac to enable his service. It's odd.

But anyhow, I absolutely understand CPANEL and have many years experience with cpanel, but again that was only for myself. Until I decided to do start a hosting company, and then I got WHM, that's where the problem started, well actually no. More so one piece of WHM connected into ClientExac for automatic approval for clients to have their services enabled and ready without the needs for me to log in and approve it manually by adding an account inside WHM for the client and then go back to ClientExac and approve the client's account for the use of service.

I have too many websites that I have designed for other clients to list the portfolio. I don't collect them though, however I can give you details of web designs that I have done for some of paid clients. But what do you have opening for me, just curious? Thank you very much for your response!

Dude, i have no doubt that you can be successful. but this is why i recommend hostgator for resellers. The support given to resellers is phenomenon, and connecting whmcs to whm you can clearly see that whmcs is made to be connected to whm, and its alot easier to get it all sorted out.

Look, you dont even need an automated signup solution (especially if your focusing more on provide a complete solution rather then just hosting) Maybe just allow clients to signup, and manually activate their account the next day. I can think of several established hosts that manually verify accounts before allowing users onto their services (such as ferngullygraphics and sshvm). If this was me, and i was designing sites for local business i would have a reseller account but do away with the billing system and manually manage each account.

    Just my thoughts.
