OH dear I have duplicated text in my tags - will this damage me?

I have stupidly duplicated the description and keywords tags on around 600 pages on 2 sites. When I added pages using the Macromedia contribute Editor, I forgot to add individual descriptions and keywords to each page - because I used the 'add similar page' function, it automatically added the description and keywords from the last page :( (doh!) Is it really going to harm me if I leave these as they are, or should I change them? Are Tags really important at all? Thanks,

    Andrew

It will more then likely harm your site(s). I would remove them as soon as possible.

I would make them all blank until you can make a custom tag for each one. Definitely don't want to duplicate every one.

i have seen pages go into the 'supplemental' index for duplicate meta tags on many pages. you don't want to fall into this hole.

in the future, you should create on 'header' page and include this on all your pages. that way, you only have to modify one page and all your other pages will be updated.

includes are critical to managing large sites.
