I have created a flyer as below, basically like a name card size. I am going to print it and distribute all over the place and to university people. Do you think this will attract them?

I was thinking of adding more words into it example get paid to signup, posts etc, or maybe earn money while online. Do you think thats ok?

I think it's a really good experiment, and maybe if you're lucky you'll get a whole bunch of new members. The flyer looks great and I think it would do pretty well in a University setting. Be sure to report back with your findings!

yes, that will be the actual size. local traffic would be a tuff challenge, you cant sit at home to work it out :) You will need to walk and stand whole day to distribute :)

yah it will really require hard working too. But what you can do is goto college universities and distribute those with students or if you have BIG budget try flying with a plane and together with 1 sack of flyers thrown in the sky...

Sorry, but I have no idea what you're trying to communicate through your flier nor would I see a reason to keep the flier after seeing it.

Flier tests are definitely worth doing but you have about 1 second of my attention when I see a flier and you better make the message more clear if you want some action resulting from it.

It all depends upon the type of website. I have a website that promotes paid surveys and I do print flyers. I hang them up around on bulleting boards, laudromats, grocery stores, wherever I see a place for them.

Fliers work great for my wife's DJ business. She uses a tri-fold brochure with a pic on teh front, company info on two panels, and wedding planning tips on the inside. You can always tell when she's been at a bridal show or handed out a stack because her traffic increases and the pages per visit sky rocket. Then the phone starts ringing. :)

She also operates a photoboth rental service, and not only do the photobooth customers get their photo strip, the photos get uploaded to the website and the URL is printed at the bottom of the strip. Over half her visitors are direct traffic, especially on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays (the booth usually gets rented on Saturdays). Referral traffic is next highest, and nearly every referral is from yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc.

So, brochures/fliers can be very useful marketing devices IF you can make it something your potential customers will want to hold on to. Frankly, I see nothing on your flier that would make it "sticky". Talk to your local Subway/Burger King/Taco Bell manager about putting a 10% off coupon on the back or something. Otherwise, hire a kid to stand by the nearest trash can and pull out your discarded fliers so you can save a bundle on printing costs. Not sure of the legality, but if your target audience is the college crowd, talk to the nearest college bar about a bogo coupon instead.

Flier marketing really works like this:
    1) Figure out what your target market wants
    2) give them something to help them get it
    3) Print your message right below it.

i agree with kappaknight..it is hard to decide what your site is about. It's a forum..but specifically about what?

The appearance of the flyer is nice. It looks modern..However, it might be mistaken for a party in a club. Put it the school newspaper...college students do look at that.

    Good luck.

nice comment from all. Yea, i put in on here because i think i miss something on it which can make it sticky. Unless i double the size of the flyer for more information to include in.

Yea, the flyer does looks a bit like clubs to me. Basically my forum is about gathering for people, more or less like online pub.

Do you think include some promotion would works? At the moment i have get paid to signup and posts rewards ongoing.

Thing is, I exchange ideas with my friends every day at lunch. Yesterday we figured out where Stargate SG-1 went wrong. We've figured out how Hillary lost the nomination, how oil companies could save face while continuing their stranglehold on energy production, how to make an electric car, how to save the music industry without a massive business model shift, etc. I only post to forums when the interest is so specialized (none of my friends are web developers) that I need to seek ideas from like minded individuals like people on DP. So, what would make someone want to post on your forum rather than just chatting about it over coffee or beer?

I presume your site is fairly regional since your are doing off-line promotions. If that's the case, you need to set up meets. Maybe you can have Kakizone night at a local pub or coffee shop. At these nights you give away some shirts/prizes. You can award posters with these or make it a random drawing. I wouldn't recommend handing out cash at these events (unless you own the pub...then cash prizes are a great way to keep them in your bar longer because they suddenly have more money to spend).

Have you clearly defined your niche yet?

Edit: I just looked at your site. Wow, you cover a wide range of human interests. Either your site is not regionally based (I see nothing that immediately suggests it is) or your region has a much larger population than the icy wasteland in which I live. A simple forum is not going to be the draw you seem to expect. You'll need frequently updated content for each of the forum categories you have. Quietly pay a few people to post so there is always activity, but use the rest of your budget to get unique content for search engines to spider. For the cost of a couple of posts, you can get some professional writers to create content for you.

My husband and I own an online logo firm and we do a lot of national business. We have been tossing around the idea of passing out fliers locally. Are the results really worth the effort you put into it?

i dont really like the message. it doesnt tell anyone enough about what to expect if they go there. The whole internet lets you express ideas, what will your site specifically be about?

Basically, the idea behind this forum is to let those teenagers or anyone to have a place to gather and seek for help with their normal life issue. i am focusing on people like student where they are outside alone, if say they have problems with their car/health/exam/studies etc, they can just get some helps form the members in the forum. It won't be specialise. take example, this site would be like a GP doctor, if they need more details, they would be recommended by these GP to those specialist site.

Thats the simple reason i think. I have entertainment and chatting box sections as i want to let the members to enjoy in there say like listen music, watch movie games, etc... wheres as like those hobbies and lifestyle would be sections for them to seeks for some helps etc or offer helps.

content is important probably i get some writers to write couple hundreds of seo articles which can benefits members.

This is something that you need to put on the flier to get the attention of your audience. They won't go to the site to check, they want to know specifically why they should go there, and what benefit it has to them. This is cruical in marketing. I also think the flier needs a bit more of an edge to catch attention.

I am at uni and we get fliers thrust at us all the time. Most are clubs. Make yours different. Even "THIS IS NOT A CLUB!" at the top would be strangely affective.. they subconsiously want to then know what it IS. Give them an incentive to give their time to check it out.

Incidentally, I am planning on launching a regional student e-community for my University city. Good luck with yours!
