Official site with activities starts end 2009, seo activities in advance?

    Hi guys,

My website with application will go online at the end of this year 2009. I was wondering whether it's useful to start SEO activities from today? Will it make sense? I already have the domainname, perhaps it's useful to generate some backlinks and lots of content of the site in order to let the site ranked in Google.

Although I have to say that when the site goes live at the end of 2009, the content will be divided in many new categories and new structures in the site.

    Thanks in advance

i would definitly start getting some SEO done.

Obviously all of it will have to be offsite if your websites content will dramatically change.

Just create a coming soon page/ website.

No harm in promoting something that is up and coming!

ok well heres something I would do if i plan the website to go live,

you can, throw up a holding page and submit it to google(this can help to avoid the sandbox effect)
you can put a blog on your home page with relevent posts on if you want so that your site can be categorised by google

what I would do in general is, put up the holding page, and on a subfolder have my "company blog" helping your domain get indexed pages even if there not your actual site. You can generate links to your home page however its unlikely some places will accept you if all you have is a holding page.
