No. Ordering by date is the most efficient way. Your vote for a slower file manager is a minority to all the people who wants a faster working one. Apologize.

So somehow your bubble was burst because speed of the file manager was sped up and rename was fixed? ...I see how hard work isn't appreciated sometimes. I do hope you open up a service too and check how to cope with all this. It's much easier to think "wishfully" than it is to make it a reality.

    And that will be fixed.

Things are much faster now. Thanks.

Can you add this to the "EDIT ACCOUNT" -> "OTHER FEATURES":
    Default
    Sort Files By:
    'Checkbox' Filename
    'Checkbox' Size
    'Checkbox' Upload Date
    'Checkbox' Downloads
    OK
-> this way a person can choose in options it's own default measure.

Jumping always to the root directory after copying, renaming and deleting files is annoying, when you have to do this things a lot. My suggestion is to also add this in the user options:
    Automatic changes
    or
    Confirm Changes Manually

Automatic would be - directly after you rename, delete, other then click ok - the change is applied
Manual would be - changes are being piled up (remembered) in a "Changes" box in the order as they are being made by the user - which would be much faster since nothing is really being done to the files after each change, and then when you are done, you can just click the "Apply changes" button and they get applied one by one.

I can also confirm that when DMCA files are erased I get notification E-mails with no files displayed in them (hotmail.com).

could be 100 times faster to load from latest than by name... But if you sort the files always by date the people that want for name everytime they switch back to sort by name... so you do a query to the database twice..one sorted in default way and the other in the way wants the user..
An option (like filesonic does) or remember the last choice (with cookies or in db) can avoid a double query to the db..
So it's not for sure a vote for slower file-manager (i add a similar solution to my site.. and it makes things slightly better)
Btw i'm really glad you will fix the return to the home :)

As said this cannot happen... Loading the name is like putting a pink elephant in the room. We tried loading the name. You guys got a slow manager, you guys cried about not being able to wait a few minutes (up to 5 sometimes). Hotfile does the same, and I'm pretty sure others will do the same if you start coping with terabytes of data per user.

Probably i'm not able to explain myself..
For example i prefer the sort by name.. so everytime i will load the page i hit the sort button... so everytime i will load the page i will put the pink elephant in the room anyway (and before putting the elephant i also loaded the page normally so i use a resource that could be avoided), even if you sort by date..
I'm not asking to restore it like it was before... only to let the user that want to sort by name to be able to through an option to save your resources...
But is your site..your decision :)

I Agree. This is way confusing. Would it be normal for you to have a home PC which has filenames order by date by default? I can't think of something like that as "normal".

Just like many others I'll have to click the arrange by name button every time. Can't take links of one type of download in order to post them if e.i. part25 is on first place, part08 on second, part17 on third and so on... ?? Does anyone do that?

    I do that :p
bu for me it's fine that they choose like default the fastest.. but like all the explorers in the world if the last time i sort the files by name the next time i want to find them by name... so everyone leave it sorted withwhat they use more..

It's not saving anything. By doing what you're suggesting, you're going to jeopardize it for others who wants to load it by date. There's no "cache" memory in effect that keeps your status/files by the "default" of listing via names. Period. Thus, it will never happen that we will list names by default, nor the wishful thinking of having a "cookie" that saves this setting. We're not here to please everyone from A-Z. We're here to provide a fast service for the general people. If you want to click on "names"/list it by names you're welcome to and you can wait the X minutes it takes to sort it by this.

You still not technically explain to me why if you sort file by name to people that will use anyway that way will slow down site..
let's say to load the website sorted by date takes 1 of resources and by name 100..
The costs in case the site loads always by date:
if the user wants to use by date:costs=1 (the cost to load by date)
if the user wants to use the website by name costs = 1 (cost to load by date) + 100 (cost to sort back 'cause the user want to use that way), total 101
The costs in case the site loads in the way the user want:
if the user wants to use by date:costs=1 (the cost to load by date)
if the user wants to use the website by name costs = 100 (the cost to load by name)
for me it doesn't load more the website.. but if it's so final the decision i'll stop the discussion..
sadly your filemanager will be always worse than the filesonic one.. btw you have other pros and i slill like your service a lot ;)

We don't need to explain why as that's deemed as tradesecrets :) Listing by date is by far the most efficient way of doing it. Period.

It btw doesn't add up as such in "cost". Different sites have different infrastructure. A danish train transportation system differs very much from a Russian one. It doesn't mean you still get to your final destination. It's just by the means of how you get there.

What seize to amaze me is that you guys do not appreciate a fast listing file manager ...It loads fast. Click your name sorting if you don't like it by date. 1 click, wait your X minutes and you're good to go. Do I smell absolute laziness?

You are right, 3 other host sites I've used do the same, new files listed at the top by date uploaded, It's good to have FS the same, easier to work with now. I suggest eveyone who doesn't like it start getting used to the idea of NEW files coming first :) Thanks. Now just waiting for DMCA removed files to be arranged by 'date removed'.

You are right, I was waiting for the File Manager that does everything itself automatically RemoteU, Copy, Rename.... while I sleep. Gosh there's no pleasing some people no matter what you do they always want more and more.

I guess everyone is already complaining about it, but let's say it too : FTP upload IS DEAD since 8 pm GMT yesterday (files never make it to the manager).
