In addition to onLoad's post above, I would just like to see some transparency in the process. I mean, we all know Google is in business to make money and most of us don't begrudge them that, it just sucks that you get a click and have no idea what percentage of the advertiser cost you're getting. Also, control over ads and the ability not to show "ads by google" would be nice...
- Lastly: DO NOT hold us responsible for advertisers conversions! That is up to them, NOT us IMO. I like that one the best!
You can actually track all of your sites using channels. You can filter and track them by site URL or channel name.
This I don't agree with. Users should know upfront that it's an ad therefor the "ads by google" should stay. Unless you are trying to trick your visitors into leaving your site?
Nothing stops you from putting a label "Advertisement" the ads. And why should the users know that it is an ad? It is better if he doesn't know imo.
That's not the point, of course we can label it. BUT think of it from google's end. They are trying to "solve the problem of invalid clicks" but removing the ad label would just make it worse! Also, can you tell me what ad network doesn't have their label associated with their ads? (PPC)
Your point is correct. I just can't understand why when the user sees an ad link and clicks to go to it (without knowing that it's not an ad) and leave immediately, why should it be counted as invalid? Shouldn't the ads be counted just as the the websurfers normal way of browsing, instead of being a holy grail, which should be clicked ONLY when the visitor needs more info on the ad description/text? I can not tell you an ad network that doesn't have a label besides their ads by default, but there are some that give you the option to hide/remove it. I think this kind of labeling is just to make the visitor give more trust on the link he is going to visit.
That is not completely true. Highering the prices of the advertisements will increase it's value. A good example: There are companies registering domains for $3 and there are others that price $15, but they have customers too. Not only the price is important in the internet...
How about getting that affiliate program back in certain territories, and not tell us what's working & what isn't.
