I think Microsoft Office 2007 is a big change from previous versions and is hard to get used to, do you think it was the right decision to change it alot? I can get used to it easily because thats what I am like but I know many people who struggle. Post any thoughts if you have used it.
It now looks more like a website than a windows application. And I'm one of those who don't like the top menu changes. Not sure what they thought was wrong with the regular menus that are just easier to "read" and work with. Worse load speed, Annoying ClearType effects, too much to get used to, I think. Going to switch back to 2003, just need to find some spare time for that.
Me using Office 07 since 3-4 months and no probs faced. You jst need little time to know the new interface then everythings fine.
Well,I haven't used Office for years....I only use online editors nowadays. Hey dude,it's WEB2.0,turn to Zoho.com
I'm also using Office 2007 since 2 months and its CooL. The only problem is that most of the users use the old version and hence when i send an excel report of my submissions, they are not able to view it. So I have to send a Wordpad report Regards, Kulwinder.
All you need is choose Save As -> Other Format -> 97 - 2003 Workbook (.xls) and then users with older MS Office will be able to open the file.
Oh thanks alot You saved me a big deal here. I dont know why I never checked for that option lol. Thanks alot "Rep Added" Regards, Kulwinder.
I tried Office 2007 but switched back to my trusty old Office 97. The decision to switch must be entirely based on what you are using Office for and whether you need or can use the new features. If the suite does not make it easier for you to do your work, then there is no compelling reason to upgrade. In my case, I only use Excel and I only run Excel 3.x era macros. I have never needed to upgrade because I call Perl and PHP scripts from batch files to do any of the real work I need. If Excel file formats become unreadable, I will probably just download a free reader to get at the contents of ther people's spreadsheets.
Reason Microsoft designed the ribbon was because it was hard to find many of the 1500+ commands in Office according to what they say and I tend to agree as there were times I looked for something in the menu and could not find it. The ribbon is a extremely innovative UI Microsoft has came up with. I think it makes it easier to find stuff myself. There also giving rights to the Office 2007 UI so developers can implement the "Ribbon" and it will make users familar with the Ribbon UI even more.
