I tried MS Office 2007 for the first time -- DAMN! what did they do! Office was great. It was quick, i could find everything, I could do anything fast, and easily, now the design is terrible! Everything is at least 2 clicks futher away then it used to be. "Right Click" mouse on the page, and it takes ages. Changing the orientation of a page is different. It just plain sucks, and I just hate it. I'm going back to 2003 -- which is where i will be staying. The only reason MS have done this, is to sell a new version office -- that looks different, and be able to seel new courses on how to use their new software. They say it's faster, and easier to use -- MAYBE it is to new users, who have never used a pc in the last 6 years. Thats fine, but at least offer a way for people who need to use computers NOW, and have experiance, to have office looking the way everyone is used to. What you think the chances of microsoft admitting that they have made a mistake changing the design? and going back to the old style? or atleast making an "offical" way of changing it back to 2003 style? I like MS -- and most of what they do is fine. I.E 7 is great, XP is amazing! But office 2007 (and vista) should be droppped like windows me.
widnows 7 is coming out soon.. google it.. i think it will be good.. back to basics apparently! i stick to XP, no point in upgrading... i always wait 2 or 3 years till i upgrade... so that the OS settles down and more things become compatible... i also still use office 2003!
What are you talking about? Office 07 is the best thing that ever happened since XP. The new design is so easy to use. No more digging into endless menus. The new interface and layout and the text just makes your documents so much more professional.
Your just used to the old layout, give the new one a fair try and you will learn to love it. You must have some seriously crappy PC...
Just tried office portable, honestly I like the new one, its much sleeker and easier to navigate...and personally I find it quicker, maybe your pc is buusted!
I personally support the new version of office, it is true that options are easier to find and it has a better look. Office 2007 might have been targeted for new users as it has a user-friendlier interface than older versions! It works fine on my pc and is a lot better than 2003.
mmm, lot of good comments for 2007 so far?? I just cannot get used to it! Things just seem to take soooo long?
Something must be screwed up with your computer or settings. Had a trial run of Office 2007 and loved it. Could not wait to get a copy and it is seriously better than the previous versions of Office. I have no idea why things are taking long for you. I have used it on a 4 year old laptop with 512MB RAM and never had any issues with speed even with other applications open. Outlook 2007 as well as great and improved so much, I cannot see myself going back to the older versions.
i use office 2007 and find it so much better than 2003 i remember the first time i used it i couldn't work out where to find "Save As"
yeah i've used to run Office 2003 into my machine. It was so clear and quick. Now with this Office 2007 things are packed up, so uncomfortable..
Actually I love the new office 2007. Took me about a month to learn, but now, I think it's A LOT faster than the older versions because of the ribbon interface. Give it some time
Office 2007 is the best office version by MS. Your pc might have problems, upgrade to a better PC before complaning about a product.
My Pc is only a few months old -- it's a good enough spec to run any software (and if it's not, the software should be rewriten) I just dont like it. I think i can just put it down to experience. I'm just good with 2003. I can do everything i want - fast. I can find everything. Honestly, i needed to turn a single page portrait in a 5 page document. Page 3 needed to be on its side. -- I had to look it up on google on how to do it!!! It would have been 3 or 4 clicks in 2003. In 2007, it was a google search, and a pain in the arse. Is the new way of turning a page on it's side better in 2007. Maybe, if i hadnt been doing it the same way for years. -- which basiclly means. NO it's not better for me. Why should i have to learn how to use word all over again when i can use it just fine now. All i need a is a "CHANGE TO 2003 style" button I bet 80% of people would use that feature. We are not even upgrading at work, as it would cost too much, while employees have to learn how to do simple things all over again. I'm gald all you have been so quick to change to the new system! I'm the same in everything though -- how many of you have easily moved from ActionScript 2 to AS3???
Office 2007 is a joke. I unfortunately purchased a laptop with vista on it for business. Good thing I was able to get Office 2003 installed on it, because as bad as vista is by itself, office 2007 is even worse. .......Big...... waste of money. If I was their boss, I would have fired the entire management team whom developed it. And no severance package.
Considering the number of people I work with who now use Office 2007 and by the comments on this thread so far, I'd say the problem is probably you. Your ineptitude should not reflect on what is actually a good product.
