Offering PPC services - realistic?

    Hello,

I have a tentative PPC plan and would like to know if you think it is realistic:

    BACKGROUND:

I have a bit of experience with adwords since I've used it to promote my own website. I've also got part way through Andrew Goodman's book. That's where I'm at. I have more experience with SEO than PPC at this point.

    THE PLAN:

After educating myself a bit more, I was thinking of offering SEM services (i.e. managing adwords) to websites that are successfully converting customers but not yet using PPC advertising.

To be fair to anyone for whom I manage PPC, and also to motivate myself, I was thinking that I'd charge commission only (i.e. they pay me a percentage of net profits from PPC advertising).

I don't have a ton of experience with PPC yet, but I do have the right kind of brain for it, and I think I'd enjoy it.

So there you have it - what do you think? Realistic? Is there a huge learning curve?

    Thanks!

So, you have minimal experience with PPC marketing but you'd like to offer SEM consulting services?

Here's a better plan for you. Use PPC to drive traffic to your own affiliate offers for awhile. It's commission based as well. Get good at that, get a track record, and then offer consultation services if you want to.

For now, I'd say it's a bad plan. Just my .02. PPC isn't as easy as people make it out to be, if that where the case everyone on this forum would be a millionaire.

Hmm, sounds like a good way to start. How does one get started with that? I'm registered with ComissionJunction and a few other affiliate sites as a publisher (haven't put any effort into it or made any sales though).

    Questions:
    - Can I create PPC ads that are affiliate links directly to the affiliate's website?
    - Or would I have to create PPC ads that link to my own website, which have some sales copy and then an affiliate link to the affiliate's site?
    - Are there ways to sell an affiliate's product on my own website, or does one always have to link out to the affiliate's website where people buy the product?
    - How can I find out if an affiliate's website is converting reasonably well? (since I wouldn't want to put effort and money into sending traffic to a site that can't convert)
    - How can I find an example of someone profitably using PPC to drive traffic to affiliate sites?

I realize my questions above are very naive and probably common to people with little or no PPC / affiliate experience. Is there any good website / ebook / thread on this forum etc where I can easily find out all that type of basic information?

    Thanks again...
