Offering PPC Advertising on your site...

Do many people offer PPC on their websites...or do most people just do monthly prices for links and banners?

I'm trying to decide which one I want to do (for banners)...which one has worked best for you if you've tried both ways?

Some Ppc sites allow you to sell ads on your site. They handle all of it for you. Same goes for paid for week or month.

You can also sell ads yourself without any of the sites. I would start with a ppc site that allows you to sell ads. They will run ads on your site even if you do not sell any. You still make money and can try to sell ads.

I was having AdBrite on my site www.nuurl.us, but finally removed it and just put up my own, and it's doing pretty well and makes the site look better too.

Our offering in June when we launch will do these things. We allow publishers to place ad groups on their site in a variety of formats (text and banners), advertisers can advertise directly on your site and we also serve you run of network ads in the empty ad slots.

Might be what you are looking for.... www.adtoll.com

I'm not looking for other peoples PPC programs to put on my site...

I'm selling my own space the manual way, i'm just trying to figure if I should just sell them for a monthly price, or sell impressions...

Why not ask your customers, see what they want to do.

I never said I wouldn't be asking customers :D...i'd just like the opinions of some people on here that might be experienced in both tactics and which has worked better for them for possibly what reasons ;)....

If you are managing your own campaigns then probably look at fixed price or even CPM. I'd offer the choice of either and let the advertiser choose.

Do you have any minimum requirements for publishers?
What is the minimum payout, etc etc?

I'm sorry, yes, I should have been more specific. Consequence of having too many tabs open :p

Anyway, yes, I meant to ask you ruby more details about Adtoll. I've been to many advertising websites, but somehow, they've all had some deficiencies/limitations which prevented me from using them.

What were those deficiencies/limitations? I'd be curious to know. I might help us with some decision making or enhancements for our second release.

    To answer your questions.

No. If you have a site you can use AdToll to serve ads. Outsourcing your advertising effort does make sense as our commission is high (75%), we provide you the tools you need, you automatically have access to a large number of potential advertisers looking to spend money and you can also make money through the Run Of Network ads.

Obviously there are requirements/conditions as to how you can display ads etc... that's with any ad network however. Nothing too unusual there however.

Depends on how you want to be paid. Cheque and PayPal min. payout is $20, wire transfer is $1000 or you can opt to have your earnings transferred to your AdToll credit account which you can directly use to purchase ads. There is no min. payout for that!

In saying this some of the finer details of the business model have not yet been finalised so these min. payouts may change before launch. If they do it won't be by much.

Well, the 2 main reasons that no ad network worked for me were:
    1. No Paypal (wouldn't pay into Paypal)
    2. Most of them only accepted sites with very high traffic (eg: more than 3000 page views a day, etc etc)

I'll admit my blog doesn't get that much traffic, and I'm not a dreamer. Practically, I think I ought to be able to make around 10-20$ a month via PPC ads.

One of the other main reasons I was not very keen on some ad services was because their minimum payout for Paypal was too high (50$). In my opinion, a minimum of 50$ (or even 100$) for cheque payment is fine, but for Paypal, the minimum ought to be low (even as low as 10$ probably).

If you do not have minimum traffic restrictions for your publishers, I'm going to be eagerly waiting for you to launch.

Well we do pay into PayPal and we will be accepting any sites, there will be no min. traffic requirements.

At the moment we have decided on a PayPal min. payout of $20 which should be fine for most people.

Remember we also have the option where you can get your earnings paid into your credit account which you can use to purchase ads. We beleive that will be a big bonus for many publisher/advertisers.

Looks like AdToll might be the service for you so I look foward to working with you.
