I recently signed up to FeedBurner to allow readers to subscribe to my blog, and I noticed that they offer a tool to allow readers to subscribe to the blog and have it sent to their e-mail. My question is- is this a good idea? Is it beneficial to me? Will I loose visitors because they can read my posts through e-mail?
It's a good idea because if people are keen enough to subscribe, they're keen enough to visit your site again when the email prompt arrives in their inbox. I believe most subscribers quickly skim read the email and most of them visit your site if they find the email 'taster' interesting - emails compliment, but aren't really an alternative to the site itself.
Of course its a great feature. Since a majority of net users have no clue what an rss feed is, but everyone knows what an email subscription is! So you definitely tend to get more people to subscribe...
Its a good feature, you can limit your RSS feed to ensure those interested in reading your post have to come to your blog.
That's a good idea yogesh. I'll try and make it so only some of the blog posts show on my feed, and offer an e-mail subscription. Thanks all for the advice!
