Opened up my email this evening only to find an offer by an online retailer to advertise on my website. The retailer claimed that he was a start up with a limited buget. He made the following statement regarding tracking sales, "I heavily database everything coming into the site. I log session ID’s to IP’s and hosts and track it from start to finish. If somebody comes in on a URL I can log it to their IP and session cookie and if that session results in a sale, then I know where it came from." He had an attached image of a crompt showing a mysql directory with IP addresses in on his server..... For some reason, this is sending a red flag up for me to not trust the guy. What's to say he doesn't report the sales? Wouldn't it be fair to use a 3rd party system to track everything?
