Off site SEO, a good example of "off site SEO"

So you think you know good "off site SEO" yes?

    What is off site SEO?

Or should I say "what is off site SEO to you"?

Many would answer with the same old, same old about links, getting links by blog posting, getting links by forum posting, getting links from directory submissions, press releases, article submissions and social marketing to name some of the most usual things we see.

I call many of those "secondary" off site SEO myself. Secondary as in they are better done by other parties.

When it comes to "off site SEO" though I would like to show you an example of "off site SEO" which I rather admire and in some ways am a little jealous of, yet at the same time I know I can better.

So first we need to identify the site for which the "on site SEO" is for. I say that, you will see both sites involved have on site SEO it's just one is working the "off site SEO" for the other.

This site is "CompareTheMarket.com". This is the target site the other site is providing one of the finest examples of "off site SEO" on Google in the UK on Google.co.uk for.

The site providing the "off site SEO" is "CompareTheMeerkat.com"

Check out this "Compare The Market" Google UK search here

Now that is some pretty mean "off site SEO"

Second position above Wikipedia for the main target sites natural or organic search for it's words (Compare The Market) like a normal EMD. The next site down being another site who if my memory serves me correctly had targeted "compare the market" as a search term b4 "CompareTheMarket.com" even existed.

So that is what I call a good example of "off site SEO".

The social aspect follows as does a heck of a lot of natural link building just from the quirkiness and genius of the Meerkat characters.

That is the sort of off site SEO I do btw. Well similar my system is I think even more powerful but my "off site SEO" certainly does not include what others seem to take for granted is the way to do "off site SEO".

If you are from the UK you will have seen the Meerkats from ComareTheMarket.com but if not you could learn a lot from it for your own off site SEO IMHO.

Incidentally if you are not from the UK do you have any similar examples you can show from where you live?

I do agree with you here only there is a fine line to this method of promotion e.g. doorway pages etc. However if the niche can expand to a number of more domains that can accommodate social, product sales, videos, news feeds, jobs, basically something viewers want to see/read then this promo WORKS - Simply break it all up then point the rest to your main site...(in the wise words of Aleksandr) "SIMPLES" :).

Obviously the more sites that have their own drive through traffic is far more useful than a stand alone site to promote. I tied up a network of over 1000 sites back in 2006, was messy but the rewards out weighed the time spent. Deep linking, inter linking, triangular linking lol, nothing beats clearing up a number of spammed out sites than setting up more just to fix one, kind of funny really. Although I'm new to DP i always tend not to give everything away, specially on forums however you have caught my attention by actually dishing out good advice to folks, for free lol, shame most people reading will get the wrong idea and start doing dodgy promo. Nice thread :)

Hey Steph glad to have caught your attention.

It's quite a clever concept using puppets/cartoons/animated characers etc as a basis for an off site link building campaign, as if you think about it a lot of what natural link building is about gets incorporated into things so that a lot of the other stuff is taken care of in the true essence of sharing links being done for the novelty value.
