So, off-page SEO is just link building right? Is there more to it? Also, what are the best methods for off-page SEO? Everyone says blog comments and directory submissions, but then I was told that directory submissions are pointless. So what do I do?
I would focus more on Social Bookmarks(Propeller/Reddit/Mister Wong/Digg/Jumptags/Mixx) and Social Networks(WOrdpress/Wikispaces/Blogspot/Squidoo/Hubpages/Typepag/Wetpaint) and blog comments for links instead of dirrectory submissions, you aren't gonna get any traffic from Directories and hardly ANY SERP Increasments becouse of Directories
After like 800 Successful Directory submissions my site moved only 2 places in SERPS after around 200 bookmarks which took much less time it moved 3 pages up and gave me alot of traffic from the bookmarks themselves
Directory submission helps a little bit to get your site some position on the search engine but it doesn't mean that it is pointless. Everything which enhance your site's position in search engine (even it gives a very minor help) is important in SEO.
off-page SEO is generally Link Building and other Internet Marketing strategies that will benefit your website with higher rank and increased traffic.
Off page is basically just link building. Google's other criteria are closely guarded secrets. directory submissions (in good directories will bring almost no traffic but will help SERPs), but social bookmarking will mainly increase traffic (but as most are nofollow will not help in google serps - they do in other SEs). Blog comments are good TBH but only from HQ related sites where they stamp down on spam comments.
Both directory submission and Comment posting are pointless. I always try to build my backlinks through Articles and blogs.
There are a ton of off-site ways to promote yourself. The key is finding out which ones work best for you and focusing on them. Article marketing and forum posting can get your name out there and help establish your credibility, more so than directory submission or blog commenting. But, every quality backlink helps! If you can get listed in a directory or find a relevant blog to comment on, go for it!
The most important link building techniques are Forum posting with good LSI; do follow social bookmarking, and social network sharing. It’s an effective to get good back link and target the keywords in major search engines.
directory submission is not pointless because some directory sites gives backlink to your site. And directory sites gives you a one way backlink. Only thing is that you check for dofollow.
link building is not enough for website promotion.. you should do other activity so that you can get best result from your site......
