Off line Promotion (TV)

I have been invited for a quick interview on TV (on a local channel) because I achieved a great score in the national exams for entry in the University (it's a greek thing, like SAT perhaps but not quite).

Anyway, I was wondering if there's a way to promote my websites through that, in a non-cheesy way. I thought of holding a sign with my url or something but I
don't think it's a very good idea somehow. Too ruthless? Desperate? Do you think it's a good idea?

Anyway, a)do you think that the payoff would be worth it (I have never visited a site I saw advertised on TV but other people might, I don't know) b)can you think of any other thing I can do to promote my site through the interview?

I think the best idea would be to casually mention my website during the interview and if they take me up on it, I might elaborate, otherwise it will be just a mention that won't bring me any visitors (but worth a shot).

I don't have such a shirt at the moment (and the interview is today). Though it's a great idea for the future. ;)

Plus, I think I am supposed to look ladylike and stuff.

What, ladies don't wear T-Shirts in Greece?? Whoohoo topless greeks! ;)

If the interview is today, you don't have many options. You could go out and buy a plain white t-shirt and permanent marker, but that probably looks too unprofessional. You could make a big sign and bring it along, but that's pretty aggressive. You could bring it along and not mention it in hopes the interviewer brought it up, but that's still aggressive and not likely. Another thing you could do is simply ask politely if you can mention your website. I usually operate on the principle that its easier to get forgiveness than permission, but asking politely sometimes works. Or, there's always an adaptation of the American Politician style of answering questions. No matter what they ask, answer it as if they had asked you the question you wanted them to ask. eg:
Interviewer: How high DID you score on your exam?
You: Thank you for asking. The URL is www.digitalpoint.com.
Interviewer: That's nice dear, but about your exam. Were you nervous?
You: Why yes, I would love it if you mentioned digital point to all our viewers!
    :D

Good luck at your interview and congrats on the high score.

Oh, one more idea. It doesn't just have to be a T-Shirt. It could be a book bag or backpack that you casually set by your chair or on your lap (after all, you're a student!).

Congratulation for your achievement! You may wish to wear a cap displaying your logo and site name there. :)

If you think your website has something the viewers (local audience) will like or maybe spread, be very aggresive in promoting it.

T-shirt with permanent marker is a good idea if you have nothing else prepared... ask the interviewer if they can squeeze in a couple of questions about your website AT THE BEGINNING of the interview, and just keep mentioning even if they don't want you to.

If it is a website that has nothing of interest to the viewers (locals) then don't bother because you might make yourself look like an ass for no real reason.

Why not ask the interviewer if then can ask if you have any hobbies, then mention your website?

Thanks everyone for the advice! ;)
I went in for the interview, it went really great! It was like the right words just came to my mouth when answering the questions.

My gut feeling was that I wouldn't get something out of mentioning my website.
I will definitely do the shirt/cap thing next time though. ;)

Congrats on the interview, I'd be nervous being on live TV.

Did you get a mention of the site in during the interview? It sounds like you didn't.

If you did, I'm interested in knowing how big the bump will be.
