Quick question for everybody... I hope somebody has some experience in this...

Has anybody ever done any off-line marketing methods? More specifically, passing out fliers...

I am looking to hire people to pass out fliers, but I am trying to figure out a method where I can confirm that the people I hire actually do go out and do the work, instead of saying they did and throwing out the fliers and just taking my money....Has anybody employed any of these kind of methods? Or know where I can learn about them??

    Thank you all in advance...

I would suggest hiring trusting people, maybe even people you already know. Then maybe do periodic checks on them. Say there are at a certain location, let them know that there will be people ( whom they don't know) checking up on them randomly to make sure they are handing out the fliers. That is the only thing I can think of.

I haven't done this before, so I don't know what other advice I can give. Good luck though!

Flyers are for suckers. You will waste more time and money for the worst results.

For the most part offline marketing techniques require much more effort than online marketing techniques. The only experience I've seen someone do offline marketing was by making a bunch of business cards with his website on the business cards, then bascially going to high traffic areas such as malls, sporting events, concerts, and schools, and pretty much duping his thousands of business cards around these facilities (in bathrooms, near water fountains, near main entrances etc). This technique requires a lot of effort, costs money, and wont generate you very much money but I'm sure passing out fliers wont be that much more successful either.

Well most if not all of my marketing is done online... i was thinking of incorporating a small portion of one marketing campaign to an off-line campaign... based on a method I learned from a colleague .... i would never put too much time and investment into this unless i saw some results, but figured it would be worth a shot to try out to see how it goes... i wouldnt be the sucker standing out there handing out flyers.... but Im sure I can find a few suckers who are willing to do it for a few bucks! :)

why not make some T-shirts and attend places that are related to your site - then you can pass out some t-shirts - or even have a contest - try to rent out some space, that will attract people and get your product marketed.
I wouldnt deal with passing out fliers - there are at least 25 people a day that I come across passing out fliers and no one takes them - or better yet - they will take them and dump them right into the trash. Im in chicago by the way

Off line marketing exist and can help you very much.

You dont care for useless click & hits.
DONT SPEND YOU MONEY ON TRAFFIC MAKERS (I have many BAD experiences)!

You want to attract the web visitior that really needs your web services.

Flyers, posters, magazines, newspapers, stickers, lighters, shirts, hats, pencils...
are and forever will be useful for your website.
They are cheap, and they will be shown around for months (mags, pencils, poster) or for years (hats, shirts).
Find the right design, the right cost, and the right place to share them .... good luck.

buy a list, though now they're getting expensive, and send out flyers in a target area.

Passing out flyers is really hard, whereas you spend money on paying someone to pass them out as well as paying for the flyers. And you it's very hard to get real results from that.
In any case if you are going to do it, it's hard to keep tabs on someone, so I suggest getting someone you trust, and you yourself get involved with the distribution.

Offline marketing can be very successful, but I have my doubts that randomly handing out fliers to whoever happens by is not going to get you too many serious customers.

If your product or service has a market that you can recognize in strangers, such as their location (coming out of an exclusive shop), their demeanor or dress, it would likely work better. At least it has for me.

I have been very successful with this method, but I can recognize immediately when someone needs my product and I carry with me a brilliantly produced brochure and simply mention that "I don't know if this product will work for you, but it sure did for my husband and I. Would you like some information? Here's a brochure and if after reading it through, you think this product might help you, too, just give me a call. Here's my number on the back."

Although, this is not hands free... it can be used while you're out and about anyways. It's not necessary to make any special trips downtown. We all stand in lineups, right? Be prepared.

I have gained customers that consistently purchase hundreds of dollars of product from me every month. :)

offline marketing can support online marketing.Your website will be more professional in customers 's eyes. It is something like real life PR. Infact, many general customers don't know about Google PR but they will be atracted by a well optimized brand

How about posting 1 flier on a bulletin board of a college or something along the lines.

I know of several companies that perform these services throughout the US. All of their walkers (people that hand out the fliers) are gps tracked and you can view their progress online. You can also target your audience (consumers vs businesses, geography etc.). PM with your details and I will connect you with a resource.
