ODP secrecy and locked threads

    Why are all the threads towards the second half of the page locked, just like dmoz??? is this some kinda conspiracy :D

    I think the most common reason for them being locked is that often a question is asked and it gets answered. Keeping a thread open when posters just take pot shots is not productive and just a plain silly way of increasing the post count.

    I'd agree with that, though often times the thread does not get answered and the potshots start. Other times, the threads are simply duplicates, as there are only just soooo many questions that can be asked about a single directory. Most of the time it's a matter of the original poster not bothering to search out their answer.

    The search feature here at DP is top notch, especially when combined with the power of Google. The answers are already there... one only needs to look.

    Though, as most of the bickering is limited to this forum by the members that bicker here, it's not a matter of increasing post count and more of an issue of personality and idea conflicts.
