Hi! I'm recently employed at a new company and trying to make sense of their data. GA is reporting their top ORGANIC landing page as: /&q=keyword This same string is appended to most all of the landing pages in the report. But the same URLs WITHOUT the parameter also appear in the report for the same time frame. There are other odd parameters like: &form_type=popup_phone_leads Appearing in the organic landing pages. The PAID data for landing pages do not have these. None of these URLS with the queries appear in SEM Rush rankings or in site inurl searches through Google. I created a new view free of filters and customizations and the data still appears this way. (In the real time report). I'm at a loss. What can I try to continue investigating this? I feel like the organic data is pretty useless with all this clutter. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, -Mogo
Go to Admin > View Settings > Exclude URL Query Parameters and input as a comma-separated list, e.g. "q, form_type". For reference: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1010249?hl=en
Will this solution then combine those pages with the page version without the parameters (the correct url?) I don't want to lose the data as those URLs with the parameters are the top converting sub set of pages. Thanks for the replys!
So you don't want all the clutter added by the additional parameters, but you also do want all the clutter added by the additional parameters? Seems like you're stuck then.
You should open your GA and block all the parameters there but make sure you dont end up destroying all the data.
well above comments, I am strongly agreed with them. you can get your old analytic data with the help of old parameters
