Odd Google Rankings

I have noticed some very odd happenings with google rankings with some of my websites.

I have a website that's approximately 1 year old. It was in the top 5 for its major keyword. Suddenly, it dropped off for that keyword. But, only the homepage rankings dropped off (other subpages rank for the keyword). You can find the homepage by typing in the domain, but it doesn't rank for any keywords.

This happened to me again. A new site (about a month old) ranked well for various keywords and then suddenly dropped off. Subpages still rank, but the homepage is only found by typing in the domain name.

Both of these sites' homepages still rank well on Yahoo, etc.

Has anyone else experienced this type of thing? I can't figure out what happened.

I have seen similar on some sites, but have always been happy that internal pages are showing as they are more targeted to generate conversions.

If you have been building deep links into your internal pages more than your home page (exactly what you should be doing) then this is more likely to happen. Build some internal links back to your home page from the other pages - but within the body of the page, not site-wide navigation - and you may correct th issue if it is is important to you the home page ranks.

Finding any single factor that will create this effect with certainty would be virtually impossible. If the site is generating traffic and doing the job it was intended to do, then there's no cause for concern.

 

The sites still get traffic, but the home pages are targeted to the highest traffic keywords.

 

If the Page Rank of the site hasn't changed (Google pennalty), then it is you on-page SEO. Compare your keyword phrase SERPs to your page. You will find that the competition is updating their on-page SEO. Specifically the <title> and <H1>.

If you put the url in your post, we could look at it and give your more info.

Also, Google, Yahoo and MSN index and process the pages differently.

 

My title is my keyword and the keyword appears on the page, but the page is no longer in the top 1000 for the keyword.

Other pages of the site not directly targeted at the keyword are ranked around page 3-4.

 

SERP fluctuation is a common thing... Ranking goes up and down everyday...
Panic if your website dont rank anymore on that KW!

It's very strange indeed, especially since I've had a similar issue with two websites. I wish someone had some insight into this.

 

Same thing happening with me. I am sure my site didn't get penalized but all keywords ranking of my site pages including home page and inner pages are not available anywhere in google results. Still i am getting traffic.

This happened yesterday. All keywords ranking has gone and my site is not appearing anywhere in Google results for any keyword. I don't know what happening?

But it's really irritating for me.........................

Any one has IDEA?????
