Hi, I'm not sure what's going on here. If I do link:http://www.mysite.com at MSN I get 3,419 pages. If I do site:http://www.mysite.com I get 2195 results. On to Google; site:http://www.mysite.com turns up 4720 results yet the link: only shows 68? I don't understand why it's so low. And at the top of the list of 68 is a site that seems to have absolutely nothing to do with my site and I was unable to find a link to my site there. Is this odd or standard issue stuff?
Try doing a link|www.mysite.com and you will see actual results... the link: only shows partial results
I just checked out the link| search, and it yielded 43,000 results for my index page.. whereas the link: only shows 12k. I thought you were on to something. Upon closer examining, all results were of pages in which my domain name was actually part of the body text on those pages. link| it turns out is not a measure of incoming links at all but shows how many instances there are of the URL appearing on web-pages.
