Obscure keywords

    I am using a lot of assumptions here but,

    Take a keyword like 'money'. From what I can tell there are about 50,000 searches on Google for that term. Let's say you can get to page 1(which would be very impressive and take a lot of time and money), the lowest number on listed pages a page 1 site has is 21,000. Now if half the people visit your site, that's 25,000 visitors, or less than 1 hit/page.

    Create a general themed site so each page can target different obscure key words. From experience I found out of 75 pages listed my tracking shows I get visitors for:

    word 1 - 35/day
    word 2 - 15/day
    word 3 - 10/day
    all others - 10/day

    My visitors/day iaverage s about the same and I can spend more time creating content instead of worrying about position. The other benefit is that for my first 3 words, I am only on page 1 for the first(@ #9) so things can only get better.

    Seems better to trot at a steady pace than to try to hit that homerun.
