Hey friends from differend lands... I have a question about OBL... no I don´t mean Osama bin Laden. I mean OBL aka Outbound Links. Enough jokes... As you can see, I am aware what OBL means. However, I am unsure about the exact sense... Let´s say I have a blog with a blogroll of 5 links. But let´s say I also have 500 articles and some of them point to differend extern url´s. Let me say maybe 70. What is now my OBL? 5 because only the blogroll counts? 70? Or 75 because every link counts? I mean if you would want to rent a link on the example site above? What would be the obl of the site for you? Do you only count the blogroll or sidebar? Hoping for answers. Thanks and best greetings.
OBL means the amount of links you have pointing out from your page to other pages. Also some advice, no one knows exactly the rules Google uses therefor let your website look natural. Most chance you play on save with that thought. You might want to read this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-role-of-outbound-links
When it comes to SEO, you only count the OBL as it pertains to that page only... if any of those links in your blogroll links to your internal, it doesn't count as OBL.. it only counts as OBL if it links to a website that's outside your site... Lastly, if your concerned about amount of OBL, only stick to around 40ish
Thanks this is good to know. So if a seo talks about obl, then he probably asks for the outgoing sidewide links, right? What I ask myself is if they even would count in outbound links like the twitter follow button?
