Government hasn't been overthrown yet because, sadly, most Americans these days have absolutely NO idea what the Constitution states, why it was created, that it actually calls for small government, etc. I find it so disgusting that I can ask any adult around me and the only Amendment they know is the First. Pretty damn sad. As an American, I can at least read the Constitution once in awhile and know my rights. Take a break from American Idol and Dancing with the Stars and read up....
I'm sure many also know of the 5th, it's used often enough. Even Aussies use that statement although it doesn't cover us. Just sounds cool. And, I wouldn't watch Idol or Dance, even if you paid me.
Same here Bushranger. And the only reason people know they have the right to an attorney, and the right to not self incriminate, is because of the US Supreme Court Decision in Miranda v. Arizona where the defense attorney said the guy didn't know he had those rights. So now it is required to advise them of them. They actually cover more than the 5th amendmant. And most police agency's in the US add an extra line to the court required advisal (at any time you may stop answering questions even if you waive your rights). And those guys you mentioned were charged because of politics. And most people think the 1st amendmant allows them to say anything they want. When in actuality all it does is prevent the government from aboloshing or establishing a religion, and basically making it so the government can't oppress people's views. It doesn't protect them from other people and it doesn't allow people to spread lies or cause a state of panic or alarm.

As he said, MASS shootings don't happen at gun ranges. that was a nut job (like the mass murderers) that only killed her son. That wasn't even their gun, it was a rented gun for the range.
