Obama's background (Marxism?)

Why don't we use this thread to get all the facts straight. Can anyone tell me what the real story is on this? I don't feel like searching on google either cause I know i'll get partisan information (just like I'll get here), but at least I can see which side wins out here.

So the question is, does Obama really have a background that was inspired by marxism, or are these all claims based on twisting the truth?

    *sigh*

Obama would be considered a center-right politician in every other civilized country in the world. The idea that there's anything "Marxist" about Obama is ludicrous.

F.N. Brill, National Secretary of the World Socialist Party (US): “Obama is as much a socialist as the Pope is an atheist. Income redistribution isn't a socialist act. It might aid in ameliorating income disparities within a capitalist economy for a limited time. But the logic of capitalism demands the rich grow richer (more capitalization is needed) and the poor grow poorer (their work creates the needed capital used by the rich).”

I'm not asking if Obama is a Marxist, or if his policies are.

I'm asking about his background only. Was he really inspired by it?

    Lol, I know, right?

Bush was just CRAZY to the right; most of the world leans left.

Now, if we would listen to what the majority wants, we'd have a pretty messed up system.

We don't live in a Democracy.

Democracy is tyranny of the majority, it's a mob wanting the execution of an otherwise innocent man (Silly Jesus...Tricks are for kids).

It is no secret that we need a representative system where the representative is of outstanding repute and will take the firey temper of his constituents and work it in the forge of rationale/logic in order for the desired outcome of a thoughtful and disciplined policy.

Obama could be an Anarchist for all I care, the power still lies in the hands of the voter.

Forgetting your own power (and you have no idea how powerful you are) is the first and steepest step in becoming a slave.

Nate: My opinion of the question on face value re: marxism is that is absurd.

but since you are a lazy SOB, not wanting to do research...I did a smattering of it.

Here is an excerpt from wikipedia and then some of my own commentary after the excerpt:

Assuming that is accurate, I didn't know all the details. As far as education there is nothing indicating marxism in any way, shape or form. If you want to know more, investigate his transcript from colleges. Still that wouldn't tell where a person's mind or heart move.

Clearly at Harvard law school there is not an ounce of marxism taught there. Its primarily geared toward producing high income high valued attorney's in the American system....in whatever specific career path they choose.

What I read out of this is someone who leans American Liberal.

In its own right, regardless of attack terminology used by the American Right...it is as different from Marxism as is night from day.

The quote sourced by Willy, from a real Marxist defines the difference.

Of note. He clearly is bright. To graduate magna cum laude at Harvard Law School is astounding. That means he graduated toward the very top at an intensely competitive school with virtually everyone being very bright, hard working and motivated. That is a tremendous academic achievement in its own right.

His early work simply shows that he leaned liberal in actions, not just words. He did classic American liberal work, focusing on helping disadvantaged Americans get their votes and get better housing.

There is nothing horrendously Marxist or at all Marxist about that. Within America, he put effort into helping disadvantaged, poorer, less educated people get more opportunity out of the American system. He dramatically sacrificed personal earning potential. He could have been earning very big bucks working for a high priced corporate law firm, such as the ones he interned at during summers while at Law School.

What Obama did is far more akin to charity. Its helping out those who are less well off than you.

For those who brand him a marxist, one could turn around and accuse them of the following:

They like, enjoy and relish having a large uneducated, less well off population within the country. They like the fact that they can hire them at absurdly low levels of income, use their work to amass lots of money, keep them in subservient positions. They are crooks. Their every essence of being is to figure out how to rip off everyone and anyone else. Its easiest to rip off the poor, the uneducated, and the disadvantaged.

They hate the fact that some Americans think and act in a way that helps this underclass reach their potential. They enjoy a system that allows them to abuse the crap out of everyone else.

Now that I've done some of your research, Nate, (you lazy bum) why don't you look up something somewhere and share some knowledge with us ;)

Whatever you think of the guy, he works hard as hell and gets results.

The right calling him a Marxist (I'm a registered Republican) are showing their true color as hypocrites and liars.

You realize the idea is for you to WILLINGLY pay your tithe (10% tax, just an example) to your fellow neighbor so you can learn how to survive on less than the energy you forth working warranted (sacrifice), and to "spread the wealth."(altruism)

A Republican would give his hand out openly because HE DOESN'T WANT THE STATE TO IMPOSE MORE RESTRICTIONS AND TAXES.

There's no freaking secret how to run the country; control the wealth, control the vote.

If you help more people out openly, there is less reason for taxes and ridiculous calls of "Socialism" to exist because the conditions that would call for either would be eliminated.

The people who would donate to a church before to a homeless man is an idiot. You cannot assume that the homeless man will squander those funds while the church will not; to do that would be to do the exact same thing that leads stock markets into disarray: Speculative Investment...YOU CANNOT PREDICT THE FUTURE BASED ON INCOMPLETE STATISTICS.

For the sake of brevity I will stop now, but it's pretty clear that Obama is in no way a Marxist and the Right are truly degenerating everything they stood for by claiming these lies.

Notice though, it takes your own will to study what is truly going on and be informed. So many citizens are just blindly listening (wrong sense, I know) to these lies and believing it. The revolution will not be televised; there is so much wisdom in that statement. Those who you see on mass media will never help you liberate yourself.

Only you can mold yourself into a force for truth, and when you accept that is your place, you must then not allow mistruths to exist anywhere you are.

It is the test to see what you are more concerned with: protecting your ego by not standing up (allowing friends to be racist/ignorant/cruel because you don't want to lose friends), or walking the razor's edge and doing what you have known your entire life, but continually ignore, is right.

Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).

Cap and Trade was Obama's communist end run. Looks like the ball was fumbled when self admitted Communist Van Johnson resigned as the Green Czar after he was outed by Glen Beck.
