Obama: US troop lost is "waste"

Now we really know how osama obama feels about our troops...their lives were "wasted" as he put it...

    Link

    then the backpedaling:

"I was actually upset with myself when I said that, because I never use that term," he said. "Their sacrifices are never wasted.... What I meant to say was those sacrifices have not been honored by the same attention to strategy, diplomacy and honesty on the part of civilian leadership that would give them a clear mission."

For some reason, it's always democrats that have to back pedal about comments said about our country and our troops. When are they going to learn that disclosing their true feelings is harmful to their party?

But their lives were wasted, and what a terrible waste it is too. :(

They shouldn't even be there in the first place.
The world is no safer place for them losing their lives at such a young age.
It's a terrible waste of good people.
    So sad.

Obama is against the war in Iraq and the upcoming war on Iran so he has got absolutely no chance of getting into power.

    Shillary has though. :D

I have anguished over this; I am a vet, love and honor vets, and have family that served (two of whom, marines, did recent tours in Iraq - children when they left, honorable combat veterans when they came back to us - thankfully came back to us - unharmed).

But here is where it is for me. I do not see any good that has come from this war. I believe this president and this administration has wantonly used our most precious resource - our service men and women - in the most woefully ill-conceived gambit in American history, over some skewed view of destiny, and this administration's place in it.

Rather than paving a road to regional peace and stability, we have stupidly ignited a firestorm with no forethought but with disastrous consequences, and I do not want to see another mother's son or daughter lost so utterly frivously. Simply repeating the now hackneyed mantra of the last several years will do nothing.

I believe that sometimes war is the only answer. I stood with this president when he stood atop the rubble in NY. But I do not believe this war was the right action to take, am angry my children will pay the price of such base ignorance and in this instance, at any rate, I agree with the Senator.

I'm still really surprised that people still buy the "War on terror" BS.

The world is no safer a place, in fact it is more dangerous.

Glad to hear your 2 family members made it back safely northpointaiki, this whole bogus war is a sham and they shouldn't have been sent there in the first place.

Bush and the crankys do not see them (the soldiers) as people, they just see them as numbers. Their lives mean nothing to these corrupt idiots mate.

I believe that Al Quaeda and its ilk are very much alive and active. I do not believe America, nor any nation, should feel sanguine in the slightest that this struggle is over. Where I disagree with this administration is how to get there.

The same way, I'd guess, that most politicians do, by sniffing the wind. No party and few politicians are immune, in my opinion.

Damn you dudes really hate the Dems with a passion don't ya? Using Obama to take the piss out of the man (allegedly) responsible for the death of 3,000 of your citizens.

I can't wait until they come into power next year, even though I dislike both parties equally I can see me having some fun with you staunch Republicans.

    Roll on 2008 and "Shillary Time!!!" :D :D :D

It reminds me soo much of what my father used to say.

"Do as I say, not as I do". To bad our leaders seem to have taken this lesson to heart. Personally, when it comes to my son, I try to set an example without regret or exception.

No, I like Liberman. Among others.. I just have a difference of opinion with a great many of them.

I'm not sure why you care. You don't even live here.

Good for you, Jeremy. You sound like a great dad.

The tragic thing for me is that I believe few on either side of this "debate" are truly evil. I believe most want a better world, and are honorable in their beliefs. And because the stakes are so damn high, none of us want the mistakes - because the consequences are so large.

Well, as America is trying to take over the Middle East it affects all of us in the world, even in my little country.

But don't worry, when the dopey Scottish idiot Gordon Brown takes over from Tony Blair we'll continue to agree with whoever is in the White House so there's no worrys there.

But I can assure you I'll be winding peeps like you and GTech and the others up big time when the gorgeous Hillary steps into the magnificent oval office. :D

Perhaps this is all just a game to you, AGS. I don't think Gtech, Mia, any of the others you bring up find this some sort of gleeful, web-based debating team. They stand to lose, just as you and I. They care, just as you, just as I, to do the right thing. I count Gtech as a friend and as a fellow vet I honor him. We could all use listening.

Nothing could be further from the truth, yet as you sit and spew out such "opposite" claims, right under your own nose and apparently with your approval and blessings, islam is taking over your country. And you defend them for doing so.

Amen, brother! There is an enemy out there that bares it's ugly head time and again. While AGS can't wait to surrender to them with open arms, I think most of us here don't want to see it overtake our respective countries.

And I respect that too buddy.

What I am trying to say here is that what we need is someone with Obamas ideals on the Middle East. He wants to get the troops out of there, he realises it is a hopeless situation over there, there never will be a US "victory."
It's a modern day version of Vietnam.

The problem is that the US intends to stay in the Middle East for years and years to come, so Obama simply cannot be allowed into office, he would end up shot dead on a grassy knoll just like the last President that tried to go against the system did, that is why Hillary will get the call, as I have been predicting for years now.

One thing I will give Obama, he certainly stuffed one up Howard the other day! :D

I disagree with Mia trying to use his name as a joke in relation to Osama (who, after all was supposedly responsible for the biggest terrorist attack in history.)

Seems like Mias hatred of Obama is greater than that of Osama, very odd.

    I'd agree 100%.

NorthPoint, there's always a cold beer in my fridge and a comfy chair in my home for you and your noble offspring.

God bless them for serving, we here in th U.S. owe them, you, and all servicemen and women (and their families) a debt of honor for their sacrifices and selflessness.

I want peace as much as anyone. Unfortunately, it is not often gained through diplomacy or pacifism, and those who wish us harm do not understand either of these tactics.
