I recently watched a whole segment of Rev. Wright, which has been snipped up and played in the media endlessly to attack Obama through guilt by association.

Now I still don't dig Obama, but his preacher seems ok with me.

    ^^ Check it out.

It should have been given the ideals expressed in his diversionary speech are Christian Principles that all men are created equal, in the eyes of their creator.

    Aching? er, are you ok?

    Yes, he is genuinely fake.

Doesn't John McCain remind you of Brian, the dog from Family Guy? hahaha Seriously, they both have white hair, they have a simular voice, and the walk the same.

All women as well, apparently, at least in one man's eyes; this and more, throughout this remarkable speech. Yep, what a piece of "diversionary" [sic] filth.

Laughable, anymore, Jeremy. And quite sad, truly.

The arrogance, cynicism, selfishness and mean-spiritedness engendered by this administration and its ideology is something the country just doesn't want any longer. In that vein, this speech was a remarkable piece of history.

Obama has spent 20 years listening to garbage from the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and tried to pass it off with a speech that resembles the Gettyburg Address.

Obama failed to mention in his speech his connection to the racist Nation of Islam. The connections between Obama and the "Nation of Islam" are many. Louis Farrakhan endorses Obama and members of Obama's staff and interns are "Nation of Islam" members. The "Nation of Islam" was even given an award by Obama's church. How many Nation of Islam racists will fill an Obama Administration should Obama become President of the United States?

Gee, Bogart, you and Mia haven't tried this one for like the millionth time now.

You got quiet then, and I expect you'll get quiet now, until you resurface with the same hackneyed smear at some point. Don't you get tired running on the treadmill of your mind? Really, brother? What kind of ignorance believes a lie fostered long enough and hard enough will convince someone? I realize there is historical precedent for the line - Stalin and Hitler and the crew - but c'mon. America, 2008.

By the way, briefly, on the socialism thing, which I thought would have been commonsense. It's also a common smear to name Obama a socialist, and viral posts of the sort are all over the web. But like the other smears, it's flawed. I will repeat: socialism by definition is the political-economic construct whereby workers and consumers own and direct the means of production, seek to end the "free market," and seek to make the capitalist, bourgeois "class" no more, a relic of history - a history it sees as necessarily coming from a long series of Hegelian class wars, and ineluctably moving towards a utopian, socialist terminus. Plain and simple. Forgetting for the moment that any reductionist division of society into serried ranks of homogenous "classes," when such a thing has never existed and will never exist, socialism as it is properly understood is antithetical to Obama's stand:

Now, it's true that Obama isn't a libertarian, and at least some libertarians tend to name any who believe in anything other than a literal laissez-faire political economy, as necessarily socialist ("welfare or warfare.") Notwithstanding the fact that in America there has never been a truly capitalist society - the collusion between armed state power and concentrated capital at the inception of industrialization against any kind of nascent, "free-market" countervailing labor movement ensured this - some of our economic structure's most egregious wrongs have been checked by commonsense laws safeguarding against its worst abuses - from early child labor laws to protection against unhealthy food products into the national stream. That said, as a country, we embrace the notion that outside of some fairly broad standards of "fair play," a society is best that seeks to leave well enough alone in exchanges between people. Obama comes from this line, a line of "compromise," if you will.

To me, it betrays a lack of historical understanding to label Obama's plan "socialist," when we have before us socialism's historical origins in the bloody history of the Paris Commune (1871, though its ancestors go to 1848 and before), and its theoretical and historical variants in Germany, England, and the Nordic countries. I just came across the comment below, and I think it says it well:

(From an article using Bogart's fave term (outside of "Muslim Terrorist Manchurian Candidate"), "shady Chicago Socialist" : Right Slams Obama as "Shady Chicago Socialist"

To his "compromise," I also do not see anathema in the word. I honestly believe he's got the ability to work with both sides of the aisle in a way I haven't seen in my lifetime. He's got the ear of "business," as well as the traditional Democratic constituency. An Op-Ed from Wall Street recently opined:

(Excerpt - it ain't all praise. NAMP, for one, is wary of an Obama presidency) (source)

I respect Warren Buffett quite a bit. I consider this investor/businessman a deeply sensible guy. He eschewed the dizzied heights of the not too-distant dot-com, speculative bust, the ventures based on companies insubstantial as air, and has consistently embraced a stalwart, long run intrepidity in his choices. He is, in my mind, a "Bricks and Mortar" kind of guy, who takes a pragmatic approach to things.

    http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/warren-buffetts-musings-hold-economic/story.aspx?guid=%7B75826F72-A26C-42CF-9AAC-493AA3FC26B1%7D

Buffet is a fan of Obama, I think, precisely because he sees in Obama what I see - a guy with a pragmatic approach to what lies ahead, and the goods to make the situation better:

Buffett: Obama will bring Outstanding Ideas to the White House

(Keep in mind - in what I would call another ridiculous stretch of the term to nothingness, but equally illustrative of the need to be careful when tossing labels, there are a limited but vocal bunch that call Buffett a red socialist as well; this, while the man is regularly denounced by true socialists, i.e., the socialist workers party, as a "class enemy").

There is a world of smear out there, and none of it sticks. I repeat that I can understand reasonable concerns, and we can all discuss those. But the gutter as has been displayed here has no place in reasonable discourse.

Here's a link for anyone interested in reading more about Obama's "Nation of Islam" staffers. Obama employed and continues to employ several Nation of Islam members in high positions on his Illinois and U.S. Senate campaign and office staffs.

"Obama's Illinois State Senate district consisted of prime Nation of Islam territory, including Hyde Park, home to Farrakhan's mansion. It is not possible, Illinois politicos say, to win that district without the blessing of the NOI leader. NOI members, including consultant Shakir Muhammad, held important roles in the Obama state senate campaign."

Gee, where have I seen this before? Uh, here, when you raised this gem as well - again and again and again and again (dizzy yet?).

What's truly classic is the oh-so ironclad journalistic standard of excellence employed by Ms. Schussel: "Illinois Politicos say"; "a former Obama insider....I have verified that this person--who agreed to talk on the condition of anonymity...."

Shhhhh....yep, "insiders say" this kind of "journalism" has all the gravitas of (careful, dating myself) erstwhile gossip columnist Rona Barrett:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rona_Barrett

Course, Ms. Schlussel has some serious mojo when it comes to logic, naming the Virginia Tech shooter as a Muslim, because:

What's next, in the way of your authoritative proof of allegations? Weekly TV spot, "Ted Casablanca - the Real Deal On Obama?," or more of a Maury Povich kind of fun fest?

I will repeat something I remember reading, uh, when I wrote it a while ago tonight:

See you in a few weeks, Bogart, on your next smear-post cycle. Why don't you just generate an auto-poster, to save you the time of cutting and pasting the nonsense? Promise, if you do that, I'll just do the same, and we won't have to actually type in anything new.

What garbage are you talking about? I watched a couple hours of the Rev. and it's basically the same bleeding heart leftists stuff that many Democrats carry around with them. The anti-Americanism stuff is being taken badly out of context from what I have seen.

Did you watch the longer segment of what I posted? The whole chickens coming home to roost bit is totally being misrepresented.

Big deal man. Bush and Kerry were in Skull & Bones. None of these guys own up to what they do at Bohemian Grove. Clinton FINALLY came clean that he attended Bilderberg.

Is your problem with blacks, muslims or both? I've said many times Bogart, except for your views on race, religion and war, we're pretty much in step on everything else. But boy do you flirt with bigotry when calling others racists and bigots...

I didn't read any denial that Obama is connected to the "Nation of Islam"

Reverend Jeremiah Wright even traveled to Libya with "Nation of Islam" leader Louis Farrakhan to meet with Muammar Qaddafi

Bogart, you have received mountains of debunking, on every ridiculous smear you've raised. Originally, your pattern was to raise one smear, it was destroyed, then you went to DebbieSchlussel.com, etc., for another paranoid vision, then that was destroyed, and on and on. Now, you are continuing to merely cut and paste/repeat the lies that have already been soundly refuted, over dozens of DP pages worth of evidence. It is clear nothing will help you, that is clear. Very, very sad.

I think this might be the real reason that Obama is getting so much friction from the neo-conservative right.

I agree, very sad. I also don't know why the word Socialist is being used as a smear, the most successful and highest ranked countries are Socialist. (Sweden, Norway, Finland)
