http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH2iufUU1f4 Well it seems Obama knew what the other campaign and party would do back in July.
And your point is?.. Anyone who has ever followed any type of political election season could have predicted this.
Yeah, it was obvious. All political strategists think pretty much alike, whether or not they actually employ the same strategies. This is like a defensive coordinator figuring that at some point the offense for the other team will try to run the ball.
I'd disagree. The timbre of the sustained attack, drawn literally from Karl Rove's playbook, is something I don't recall seeing in my years. I used to respect John McCain a great amount. I am afraid he's lost a lot of that respect, over the course of this election.
Think about it. Obama knows what skeletons he has in his closet, so of course he knows that much of his shady dealings and background are going to be the topic of debate. Very few American's, if any know who Obama is, and still more never knew who he was until about 18 months ago. Its important to know who we are dealing with, I think that is only fair. This is the presidency we are talking about. When the majority of your resume includes a mentor and teacher by the name of Saul Alinksy, a pastor by the name of Wright, a financier by the name of Rezko, and a domestic terrorist by the name of Ayers, people need to know. That goes towards the character of the individual, and the mindset and decision making process that that individual uses when chosing friends. If Obama is embarrassed of those associations, then perhaps he should stop complaining about them and concentrate on the issues.
Seeing how campaign attacks have evolved over the years I saw this as easily predictable. And I have really never had respect for McCain, even his Reform bill which was a monstrosity and didn't help a thing.
There are no political shots being taken in this election that set any records... we hear the "this is the nastiest election ever" statement every four years. In this case at the time Obama made that statement my assumption was it was a pre-emptive attack intended to nullify future disclosures by being able to say "See, I told you they'd try this". There's never been an election where the candidates actions and associations past and present weren't addressed by the other side, and whichever side has the best skeletons in the closet always tries reaching for the smelling salts and fanning themselves vigorously. Nothing really fainting couch worthy about the strategy, and definitely not a departure from the norm. Obama made it into office by getting his opponents divorce records unsealed... the resulting disclosures of a sexual nature made his opponent's race implode. He's no stranger to the device.
I have to agree with RobJones. This election is far from nasty. And, yes, if any of the Obama groupies new how he initially got into public office, they might start to see that, like you said, he is not strange to these types of things. What people do not see, like the goofy phone calls and daily letters I get from the Obama campaign here in Wisconsin, its far from fair to cry foul of one side. Just the other day the Obama campaign called my house claiming to be Joe the Plumber and telling me that I should vote for Obama. The guy in the recording said his name was Joe the Plumber from Toledo Ohio. Its unbelievable the length that campaigns go, but what is even more unbelievable is when one accuses one side of doing something its doing.
You said this is the presidency we are talking about, do you even know of McCain associations. or do you immediately rule that out, because John McCain is who you support? Not saying you do this personally, but I love it when republicans in my classes and work say Obama is friends with a terrorist or Rev. Wright must be made more public. But they dont even know there owns candidate's history and associations or just dismiss it. But personally I dont like to talk about associations, but when people constantly bring it up. That when I tend to talk about it, and bring up the other candidates associations as well. But I this quote should speaks for itself. "We all have friends and colleagues with whacked-out beliefs; that doesn't mean we agree with them."
You mean Joe Martinez a plumber from Denver, Colorado? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/18/obama-launches-own-joe-th_n_135854.html
Well it looks Mia was wrong there, looks like Mr. Martinez didn't claim to be Joe the Plumber from Ohio at all.
Obama's much vaunted "community organizer" experience included disseminating millions to leftwing groups of Ayres choosing and insisting the schools work with them. Records indicate that subsequently the CAC board chastised his work by indicating the subsequent test results after years of Obama's work indicated the schools he "helped" had no discernable difference in scores from those he didnt "help". Basically the funding did however assist the radical leftwing organizations involved. I can honestly say I left a board once because of who was on it... and as far as Bill Ayres is concerned, I wouldn't shake his hand, much less work on a few boards with him, blurb his book, or go to a campaign event hosted at his house. Ayres (and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn) has subsequent to the 60s/70s bombings / 70's fugitive run said he didnt bomb enough (in 2001) and has had his picture taken stomping on an American flag (in 2004). Obama was not 7 or 8 when those things happened, and it isnt good to see a presidential candidate that has no problem working with such an individual. Maybe it's just me, I'd have nothing to do with this guy, and he's not just "a guy that lives in the neighborhood". If you don't have a problem with him, or Obama's choice of a spiritual advisor (his own term) like Wright, or what appears to be a pattern of associations that even follows what he says in his own book about being drawn to Marxists... your call, but I don't think you need to question anyone's knowledge or competence because they object to such associations. That's our choice to make. If the mainstream media wasnt totally in the tank for him these associations would have taken him down before this point. I won't call anyone names for overlooking these things, but neither will I allow others to be accused of being naive for finding them objectionable.
I can't even believe the legs on this "Joe the Plumber" stuff. It's like a fricken Kevin Costner movie.
Thats a shame then, one person made you leave a board. You know the thing about this Ayers thing is, everyone who has now worked with this man. Says he is a good man now, and they dont judge Ayers on what he did back then. They judge him on his whole life. But yeah I guess they are all Terrorist too? And blurb? Oh do you mean http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/he_lied_about_bill_ayers.html Whadda mean he wasnt 8? Ayers was arrested in '68 correct? And regarding 2001 comment. What Ayers said http://billayers.wordpress.com/2008...cts-a-letter-to-the-new-york-times-9-15-2001/ working with Ayers without a problem? Do you immediately cast out your friends from things they did more then 10 years ago? Do you believe the world should cast out Germany for what they did? How long was Wright covered in the primaries, compared to Hagee? The Media was all over Wright. The Media covered Ayers too, they kept going into to it.
Ayres fled in 1970 when his girlfriend and friends accidentally exploded a bomb full of nails intended for a military NCO dance at Ft Dix. He was on the run until 1980. He and Bernadine Doerhn had helped found the group, The Weatherman, which continued committing crimes for years afterward, and one member is still on the run, others are in jail. Ayres OTOH is the son of the head of a large utility company, and of course they got the rich dad get outta jail free card, although his runningmate (Doerhn... now his wife) was sentenced for refusing to give up info relating to the Brinks robbery. btw - The Brinks robbery, which included the murder of policemen) was in 1981... so lets dispense with the idea the Ayers crimes were limited to the 60s... his wife was still associated with folks that murdered cops in the early 80s. Obama definitely wasnt 8 when Ayres made all the subsequent comments showing his views were still as anti-American as ever. The picture below is from 2004. I have a choice between a president that has defended that flag and one who has cohorts that stand on it. Not a tough choice for me. I read the article, and others. I'[ll offer links if you'd like them... not only the NYT versions, but also those of the Chicago Sun Times, and those by Doerhn as well. I don't agree with your dismissal. None of my friends would be my friends if theyd been on the run from the law for having to flee after their group accidentally pre-exploded a bomb laced with nails... a bomb intended to be exploded at a dance attended by US servicemen. Neither would I have friends that had attempted to murder a judge by bombing his house. If McCain had similar ties with Terry McVeigh I'd spit on him before voting for him. Apparently I'm not very forgiving on the score of domestic terror. Call me old fashioned. Obama has a pattern of ties to loonies that hate the country. I'd say that's problematic. He also has a habit of lying about it. That's similarly an issue.
No, I am correct. The call I took occurred at 2:58PM on 10/18. It came from 1-877-622-6294. I documented the call and reported it, and it is currently under investigation. I've given several interviews to various news organizations since that time. The caller in recorded message claims to be Joe the Plumber of the Joe the Plumber fame. Here is part of what the message says: "Hi, this is Joe the Plumber, Joe Wurzelbahcer from Toledo Ohio. You might remember me from the last presidential debates where John McCain falsely used my name in an attempt to describe Senator Barrack Obama's tax plan. I, Joe the plumber am asking you to vote for Barrack Obama..." This crap went on for about a minute and a half. The recording mentioned Joe the plumber with a direct reference to the debates, and by name. The call was a misuse of Mr. Wurzelbaher's identity in a sad attempt to confuse ignorant voters. There are other calls out there, yes, like mentioned above. However, in my case and other cases reported in both Wisconsin and Ohio, the message I received is not the same. Again, its currently under investigation by the state election committee here in Wisconsin and in Ohio.
